A quick test of Fredrik Thordendal’s Hermansson modded Marshall. I’ve made a few updates and installed another voicing switch in this amp which I rebuilt for Fredrik a while ago. This amp has the Hermansson 5-gain stage circuit.
Guitar straight into the amp, recorded with an iPhone 7.

That is the type of guitar tone and saturation characteristic I’ve been searching for my entire life Effin Plexi Metal Monster sound, tight, brutal and very defined picking attack It’s like Van Halen I but on steroids ❤️

Can't wait to hear this amp on a new Fredrik Special Defects album one day!!!! It really sounds great. Kind of reminds me of the guitar tone on the first Mr Bungle album which I think was a "Marshall JMP?" This amp sound even more intense though.

when you switch the pickups from neck to bridge and it goes from clean to distorted. is that just a low volume on the neck and full volume on the bridge? its like witch craft haha

Yes! It’s just low volume on the neck pickup. I’ve spent years on making my distortion circuits to be extremely dynamic.

I’m using a cheap Boston PU-52 (no longer made) and the stock Hagström neck pickup.

Drop D, otherwise standard tuning.
