I like that style of design. That was a great tutorial and easy to follow. Loved the result.

Hi Paul, new subscriber here. Happy to have found your channel! Have you tried reverse gilding on perspex/plexiglass/acrylic sheet before? I've been doing some research but haven't found a conclusive answer on if it will work. Great videos, keep up the brilliant content! Thanks

Hi, glad you’re enjoying the vids! Gilding on Perspex will definitely work. I don’t know about longevity though as it might warp or discolour over time

I thought you were going to take some time off...(my wife watches face book) I've used "Comic Life 3" for years to make repair manuals (Airbrushes and compressors) for my students.... Using AI's is all the rage and I understand...would I? probably not. I am old Paul and remember the days I would re-touch wedding photos with an airbrush... in the 60's I even worked for a while at Pontiac Motors airbrushing photo realistic car's of the future type works for the design department...they gave me their drawings and I would transfer them then airbrush chrome reflections and backgrounds.... I have french quills that are 45-50 years old and they still work... Take care..

I'd already started this video so thought I may as well finish it before taking a break. AI isn't something I would use, but I try to share as many different methods of creation as possible. While there isn't any skill in the image creation, it could be the stepping stone for someone without any design skills to get into making signs. I also want to keep on top of this stuff because at some point it will be able to create designs with text and then we're all doomed :-0 Hope all's well mate. The weather is still terrible here but it's at least warm enough for me to feed the fish :)

@Happy Gilder The whole point of why I watch your posts, is because YOU are creative! Nevermind if others have no skills, let them go work in a bank. I was a photographer for many years, and the digital age sucked the creativity out of setting up a photo. Now it's just cut and paste in photoshop. The same happened to signwriting for shops, vans, posters etc. True art stands on its own. Use your hands and your brain. Don't get me wrong, I use computers for my illustrations and photography, but I'm now realising that I hate staring into a screen all day, for led screens knacker your Meridian flow. Ai generated writing will soon replace writing as an art form. Maybe there will be two versions of art? Before ai, and After ai?

@@happygilder I was asked by my GP no less, to makes some videos on art techniques that are being lost... his line to me was; "you made your living from custom mural works for US and Australian Government Grants and for corporations like GMC.... he's known me almost 30 years and I made him a reversed imaged/chip glass door sign for his office as a gift. I told him how you are dong your work on line for free...It saddens me no one wants to personalize their vehicles, like even pin stripes...just crappy vinyl wraps ... in my past I've done horse drawn carriages, sleds (I'm from Michigan it snows) Airplanes, Boats... as I told my class; "I'd even paint mice sh*t white and sell it for rice if I could make a buck to support my family". I love your videos and all the time and effort you put into them Paul. I download them all and also I download those guys who restore those Gypsy Caravans in England...the ornamental design work is magic... you are lucky to live there mate... Stick with it my friend.

@@wobblywheeler6682 I get you and you're right, it's depressing. On the photography stuff I came around quite quickly. I loved shooting film but as soon as DSLR's became affordable I sold my Hasselblad kit and never looked back. I bought a Leica a few years back to get back into shooting film, but I hadn't even got through a single roll before I wanted to throw it in the sea. The AI stuff is a different story though. You still have to be a good photographer to make a living regardless of the tools, but with this stuff it's completely skill less and is getting better by the day. Sadly it's popular and people want to know about it. The video I made about Midjourney has earned me £50 so far whereas the one I made about making a retro sign has made me £2.70. Things like that have made me seriously consider calling it a day on RU-vid. So it'll be either fitting, Ironic, or depressing if my last video is about the rise of AI art

@Happy Gilder My 'blad stuff was worth £25k in mint condition with a Leaf back, and it went for £5k. 🙄 I've known established photographers, just fold overnight due to spending 80% of their time marketing themselves, rather than creating art to make a pittance. 😔 I curse the day I go to the village county fair, and their will be some sad sack selling ai 'art' that has been printed off on a home printer in a 99p frame from The Range. 😫 I often pop into these local High Street galleries, and over the last five years, I've just seen the same photoshopped, collage, resin coated dross, which I could cook up in an afternoon, going for silly money. 😜 Anyhow, forgive my rant, but I will continue watching 👀 your channel, and also continue my work, hopefully gaining a sale! 😂 Don't give up, mate. We're all in the same boat! 🛶

Just a heads up - according to Microsoft's Terms of Use, you can't use images generated by Bing Image Creator for commercial purposes. You can only use them for personal use.

Really? That makes this tool rather useless if so. Not much you can do with it then.

@@Mark_David_Chapman I think it can still be used if we edit the images and put something of our own (like changing a colour or element). It's a good decision tbh. Otherwise everyone will be just spam selling AI arts everywhere. Human artists will face issues.

@Happy Gilder Hold yourself higher than the masses, matey! This "technology" will warp you to THEIR methods, as it sucks your creativity, so you won't be able to think. 😑
