Many old children's books are actually in the public domain. Yes it's true - books like the Wizard of Oz, the Three Little Pigs and many fairy tale books are public domain - which means that you can use the text and the images from these books for any art project (including commercial projects like print on demand, Redbubble, Teepublic, publishing an ebook, creating high-end art prints, etc).
I include a quick walkthrough on how you can find public domain properties that come into copyright-free status on January 1st of each year as well.
