Stem separation is just a 4 band EQ frequency split, nothing advanced about it, and it works because most songs elements fit into one of the four bands. There is always some bleeding of the sounds because the elements are not all 100% contained in one of the four frequency ranges and that never changes regardless of time or what app is used.

The problem I'm having is when I only want to remove some of the elements, but not completely separate all 4 of the stems. For example, if I only want to remove the drums I don't see an option to do that. I have to separate, remove the stem track I don't want, then mix it back down to a single track. Not the end of the world, but would love to see that functionality added to only separate out the part you want and leave the rest mixed.

Hmmm I hear what you’re saying and I know Spectral Layers does off this functionality. But on the plus side if you pick the 4 channel separation you can just mute or delete what you want to eliminate.
