This yacht is currently in the process of being donated, due to health reasons, to a Veteran's group for them to use for free.
“Silver Wing”, designed by Van de Stadt, was built in fiberglass by the world renowned Trintella shipyard in Holland. This vessel’s safety and integrity are enhanced by a watertight forward bulkhead, multiple tanks integral to the hull along the keel and stringers every 16”. These structural features make her an extremely sound vessel capable in severe sea conditions. Her versatile ketch rig provides multiple sail options to suit various wind conditions, heavy and light. Both her masts are on tabernacles allowing them to fold down for the canals of Europe or to get under low bridges.

Those circular "Vents" in the dodger windscreen are actually commercial marine style windshield wipers. When it is raining and they are turned on, they spin at high speed throwing any water on them off, giving you a clear view through.

Put glass size of sliding door in kitchen on a customer's remodel, their design, warned them about excess sunlight, we had to later install sliding curtains on two rods with rings that could be move with metal rod kept in a kitchen closet. Could see that issue here.

The skylight was probably installed when they needed to install another motor. The round windows are called ClearVu and spin off the moisture in rain or fog.

3:07 This is NOT a porthole style for ventilation. It is an alternative to the windshield whippers. The glass spins by way of a small motor at the center and water is ejected by centrifugal force. It has been the best system to keep a clear view from the windshield when massive amount of water crashes on the boat. It has been used since ever on big ships. Only when very strong and effective whippers were installed did this system was abandonned. It certainly has a name but I never happened to know it, as I never sailed on a boat rigged with one of these.

Seriously interesting boat and Dutch European boat. Even like the light panel but it would need anti slip tread strips on it also to shade the kitchen a bit. Great for giving everyone a space and putting kids to bed away from adults. Also off watch crew.

This ship has a very shallow draft for such a large boat, meaning that in less than desirable weather at sea, one would have to run the engine for stability. This makes it more of a motorsailer than a true sail boat. The same design failure existed on a lot of those earlier Morgan's too. Looks like a great boat for day sailing and coastal sailing and even as a liveaboard at dock, but I definitely wouldn't try to sail around the world in it. As usual, a great presentation. Big fan.

First, I am located in the Netherlands, where these were built. These boats used to be a common site here. Nowadays, people tend to go for a sleak and sexy Hansa or Bavaria. (Or Halberg when they can afford it). I've never seen a Trintella this size with a shallow draft like displayed here. I would not be surprised if this is a typo. Secondly, these boats have a so-called 'long keel', making them very stable on the waves. Thirdly: These boats were built for the North Sea and the (Northern Atlantic) and they were (are) very capable of withstanding rougher weather.

These trintella’s were built before the amel supermaramus. The amel is reminiscent of the old trintella’s and jongerts of the seventies and eighties, not the other way round…

is the veteran's group looking to replace the motor and sell it or are they looking for a veteran to take ownership and fix it for themselves? I'd be happy to do the later. My wife and I are in the market for a serious live aboard and would definitely be in a position to make the needed repairs and spend the next 10 to 15 years sailing her around the world. Plus I am a veteran. Would love to hear from them regardless. Love that the owner is doing this too.

@overlandingscouter just to let you know, Silver Wing hit a bridge, ripped off the mizzen mast, and partially sank. Boat was then sold to a guy who owns a marine towing company, and I'm buying the boat from that guy. Lots of work to do on it. Sorry you missed out, but if it makes you feel better, I'm a vet as well, and I'll be living aboard with my two kids

This boat is offered verrry inexpensively. It was diagnosed recently with a possible seized engine. Will need work. Can be had under 50k. 400k put into her in refit extensive list of work done just a year ago.

Those are "air dryers" they are supposed to reduce condensation. In my experience they don't do much but they do warm the boat.

Growing up we had a Buccaneer. With it's high freeboard it was a bitch to get in and out of the slip on a breezy day. Am thinking even with a bow thruster with all it's exposed hull this might have the same issue.

@nachshonkbengershom3271 the boat was wrecked on a bridge and partially submerged. Mizzen mast was ripped off, engine compartment flooded, damage to main mast and water damage inside. Boat was then sold to a guy nearby who owned a marine towing company, who got Silver Wing floating again. I've recently bought it and will spend some time fixing her up and using her as a liveaboard for me and my daughters

200k is extremely expensive on this. Buying 40 y.o. fiberglass boat is not safer than 40 y.o. wooden boat... after so many years fiberglass just starts to deteriorate in random spots. For 200k you can buy a smaller boat but a NEW, and modern design providing similar inside space...

That cockpit window is one of the most unique, and worst, ideas I've ever seen. Imagine slipping on that when wet, and notice that 3 ways they've tried to seal it (butyl, silicone, and what appears to be a strip of gorilla tape outside of it all) Interior is a nice departure from normal. In any case, very interesting boat but not worth anywhere near 200k

Might be a tabarnacle? Ok obviously a tabernacle, and I'm not an expert. Of course you are not either, as shown repeatedly over the years. From what I have observed your "knowledge " is based on doing lots of walk throughs on different boats. No harm in that, but a deeper understanding would be gained by touring boats with other more experienced people, and spending some time on boats that are sailing , preferably offshore.

The gimbled stove is facing the wrong direction. Its worthless. Who cares if it gimbles bow to stern. It needs to gimble port to stbd for heeling. Terrible design. This puts me off because a boat builder should know this. Lots of builders have put stoves bow/stern, but they dont gimble them. They are fixed with fiddles.

Absolutely nothing worse than a job done by amateurs, that ought to have been done by professionals. I'm referring of course, to the in-cockpit skating rink. This typifies the boat. Another commenter said that the seller put $400k into a recent refit. Yet the boat has a seized engine? Has marijuana use just been legalised in Florida? Asking, because it seems like you, the seller and probably everyone else connected to this boat, has been smoking industrial quantities of grass. To cap it all. The thing isn't safe to go offshore in? At FIFTY feet? Was it April 1st somewhere today?
