Thanks for watching. This was a free trimmer from Craigslist and the fix was the usual fuel lines and carburetor. This time I give you a cost break down and it turns out it was pretty affordable.

A major design flaw with these is the plastic bracket/crank case cover. You will notice there is a large piece that protrudes where the carburetor attaches. This eventually cracks due to vibration. I had one with a hairline crack right at the base. That was leaking air causing the machine to run very strange. Drove me nuts.

Any time you fix one of these, it's better than throwing it in the land fill. Sadly, most small engine shops charge what it costs for a new trimmer just to repair these. I know many shops now refuse to even work on them. I can usually buy a replacement carburetor with fuel lines, air filter, spark plug and whatever for $12-$14 . I rescue them whenever I can. Lol It's funny that you are repairing the exact same type of trimmer that I purchased on eBay last year. It did not have the bottom shaft, spool cover and the clutch for my project trimmer. Well after reinstalling and fixing everything. It started to have issues with the pull rope mechanism. Actually, the gear started to slip inside the casing. Finally I got that fixed then I started to have issues with starting. At first it would start and stay for some time and then all of a sudden the engine shuts off. Not sure what's really happening? But now after looking at your repairs I think I should inspect the carburetor and see if there is any problem with it. Hey it cost me total of $70 and still not fixed. Your free trimmer is worth the repair for sure! I found out that I could buy almost new for about $89 LMAO! Well lessons learned!

How do you know how much line to put in the fuel tank so the filter can stay in the tank?
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 3 года назад
for this type of fuel filter setup you have almost zero line in the tank. Once the filter is on the line you have to push the filter so the stem and the fuel line is sticking out of the tank. I don't care for this design at all.
@999thenewman
