This time, we did some boondocking out at Upper Sweetwater, which is an amazing area for RV camping, tent camping, overland camping, and boondocking in general here in California. Lots of hunting, hiking, nature, and beautiful views! If you're still on the hunt for the best boondocking in California, or the best dispersed RV camping in California, then this one might be for you!
Read about the rest on our blog (whyweworkchannel.com/upper-swe...) and we'll see you on the next adventure! #WhyWeWork

I'm now a big fan of boondocking. You cant beat free camping. The scenery was beautiful. Looks like a relaxing trip!

We live on the central coast and never even knew about this place. We drove out there and checked it out. Beautiful area. All of the sites except 1 were taken. It was ok as we just wanted to check it out. We plan on coming back in a couple weeks. We have a 33’ trailer so we picked out a couple we liked!

Awesome, thank you for letting me know! I was seriously about to cut that whole piece out because it made the video sooo long, but I decided to leave it in at the last minute because I figured it might help someone who actually wanted to plan a trip there. Long story short, really appreciate the feedback!! ❤️💪🙏

So, I to just ran up on your channel not too long ago and I'm a BA having RU-vidr on the whole RV life for yrs now lol. However, we brought a new 31mb Grand Design fifth wheel and I've been trying to get my husband to do some BLM land, so we just came back from following you up to Sweetwater, awesome sites they are huge like you said . I was fussing at you on the way up there, because ( not your fault), we went up at night like dingbats that was quite a scary little trip up. It was kind of White Knuckle at night , but coming down in the day, I was like OMG, not bad. We were just determined to get up there that night this past weekend and it was beautiful my husband loved it. We met the Park Ranger who told us about all the other developed BLM lands and camps around. Which I didn't know existed, develop one's that is, so thank you. I was happy to run up on your Channel since you're checking out the BLM lands in Northern Cali., we're up by Sacto, I think we took the long way up, but took another route back it was a great recommendation. Next time will be shorter 🤣. Will be following your Channel thanks again. Stay safe & happy travels D&L, Lele out.😄

Ya, I can definitely see how it might be sketchy at night if you’ve never been out there before because it gets super dark at night out there. We saw so many stars!!! But like you said, it’s actually not bad when you can see where you are going. We have a lot more planned for when we can camp again so stay tuned and thanks for the feedback and for watching our videos!! There’s a lot of cool places we still want to visit and you’re in a good area so maybe we’ll catch u guys on the road sometime! Happy camping!

Hello, I have watched your videos multiple times and love them! We want to try boondocking. Is there any place to fill up water around the area and also dump?

Just stumbled on your channel last week and love your videos. Were up in the Bay Area and just bought our first travel trailer. Can't wait to hit up some of the spot around us. Just wondering on the BLM land how do you make sure you dont show up and it be full. I'll be binge watching your videos and cant wait for new ones. Safe travels to you and your family.

That’s awesome, thank you for swinging by. You are kind of taking a gamble on the blm sites, but there’s usually dispersed camping nearby as well so if you don’t snag an actual spot, you just pick somewhere that looks good and pull off there and camp. At this particular one, there’s the clear creek land where you just park it wherever you want. Thanks for watching!!

Did you reserve that free site or was it first come first served?

Hello, would you recommend car camping there right now given the conditions at the moment?
@WhyWeWork
@WhyWeWork 4 года назад
I think the developed blm campgrounds are closed still. And I saw they just closed Los Padres national forest as well. Check with clear creek management district!

We dumped at San Lorenzo in King City on our way down the hill.

Providing a public service directing the masses to ultra small camp areas is not smart. Appears fun but these small out of the way places are overrun and folks start spreading out on the local ranch properties . Nice area there so few spots one should excercise caution when driving this very narrow road. Remember first come first serve so likely hood of not getting a spot is a risk you face when driving back in that far! Good luck!

Do you ever worry about theft or personal safety? TY
@WhyWeWork
@WhyWeWork 4 года назад
We worry about theft for sure. We chained our generator up at night and try to take reasonable safety measures. When we are out boondocking, we also have 3 80-90 pound dogs, so that helps! We’ve only had 1 time when we were creeped out by someone else...

Reservations or First-Come-First-Serve? Farther away, but BLM land near Ocatillo Wells is always a bit for us in the winter.
@WhyWeWork
@WhyWeWork 4 года назад
First come first served. I don’t think it ever gets that crowded though, based on what the ranger said and you can always boondocking on the clear creek land nearby if it’s full. That’s cool that you hit up ocotillo! I grew up in San Diego going to Gordon’s Wells like 50 times a year, so we’ve done superstition more than a few times! Thanks for watching, as always, and for leaving us a comment. Maybe we’ll be able to meet up on the road one of these days!

Good stuff, thank you! I grew up going to the desert out there cuz I grew up in lakeside, which is in east county San Diego. Know those areas well. Been to glam is and Gordon’s well and ocotillo many many times! ❤️
