You have to be careful trying to boondock in the spring. As you know, by watching your experience. We camp near the lake on Memorial Day weekend every year. This year, we did have to spend a few hours clearing down trees from the back roads into our area to open up the roads for riding our atvs and side by sides into the forest.

What a beautiful area! I've been to most of OR and Crater Lake, but not to this area. That campsite and the one you couldn't get to were so nice. I got a kick out of seeing the dogs so excited to see each other. I love dogs and Roodle is really special. Great drone work Dave, and beautiful photography Carrie. I'm enjoying my 2024 calendar!

Iv lived in Oregon most of my life. I’m 73yrs old. What’s weird is i’v never been to that place but it seems like I remember a dream I had about the very spot where you were. So strange. I don’t remember the dream except the river seems so familiar when you first saw it.

My husband and I worked at the koa on lemolo lake for a season. Anytime we had a night off we would park our van at that river spot or some other spots near by! So crazy to see it on camera. There’s nice hot springs near by too. We’re heading back out on the road this summer!

Loved the video. We are a month behind you in that general area. Tried some NF dispersed camping, but the mosquitos are thick right now. FYI, your Newfoundland series inspired us. Heading there in August. Won’t see any icebergs (sorry Dave). Can’t wait. Safe travels.

There are some of the most beautiful natural hot springs on the Ump qua River about 30 minutes west. Next time you visit you’d would love Umpqua Hot Springs!

C'mon you wimps. Couple of trees heck they were more like twigs, maybe an 1/8th of an inch of snow and a couple of tiny puddles to the river LOL. Beautiful spot but the spot by the lake was awesome too.

My favorite place in that area was Umpqua Hot Springs. It's super awesome a bit of a hike and can get busy. There are 5 to 7 pools down the mountain from the hot spring source.

Just a lovely spot! But i hope you move the wood pile off to the side since friends are comming.i really couldnt see the whole site.I also chopped wood in grade school for a wood burner we had.but no chainsaw ,just an axe. Dad built our house out of concrete blocks,flat roof,no insulation.ah those days
