sad comments from sad people about Eric Bristow, he was the greatest dart player of his time. we all get older and lose what we had, Steve Davis, snooker, Eric Bristow, darts were unbeatable at their peak, love them for what they were not what age has done to them. xxxx

Not age with dart players Eric Bristow was only 54 here. Phil taylor won his last world championship aged 52 with the competition being much stronger than in Bristow's era. WIth Bristow it was dartitis. As you can see here he has had to completely change his style. It's sad cause it looks terrible when in his heyday he was magic!

Eric got dartitis in the late 1980's. He has only started throwing like this recently. He doesnt care anymore. Just plays for fun. He should have won around 8 world titles. He just couldnt let go of the dart and throw properly in the late 80's....Legend though...

Sad to see Bristow throw like he does now, but I admire him for still trying, even though he has the dreaded dartitis he probably still plays 20 times better than me. One of if not the best counters in the game too.

I have been flicking through RU-vid videos and noticed that as I’m typing this it is 6 years to the day after this was filmed but only 24 hours since Eric passed away! To me it seems spooky! RIP Eric

Love how there are two pints on the table... Bristow downs one during the match... Notices that the other is untouched and takes the other offstage with him after the match. Signs of a true legend right there

Great video. Sad to see but admire Eric for still trying. You can see what the dartitis has done and the affect its made over the years to Eric's throw. I think Eric had one of the nicest throws in darts period. Rip Eric, you are and always will be a legend of the sport!

It's a shame . I'm now 42 . I have had dartitis on and off since I was 19 years old . I had to give up for 9 but I wouldn't give up and I won singles tourney in local league last year . I have had to change throw , grip , stance . Everything . I would say I'm a about 95 % clear of it now .still hold on to the odd dart now and again . I wouldn't wish this affliction on any dart player .

Eric may not be what he was but he ruled the game for a decade or so and made darts very popular. So many negative comments about his throwing action, why ?, he has done it all and with bells on cant you just be happy he is alive and well ?.

+britturk123 Because he's an arrogant cunt, was back in the day and still is. he played well for 8-9yrs, NOT quite a decade son. The cack handed throw is deserved and any pub thrower can and has wooped his backside in the last DECADE - me being one of them. He's a dried up bitter has-been. Legend? - NO, just an embarrassement.

Have to feel sorry for Bristow, dartitis really fucked his career up and effectively ended it years before it should have. Seeing Bristow vs Taylor in their primes would have been good but by the time taylor was getting to be really good Bristow already had dartitis 3 or 4 years. The way Bristow throws in this is nothing like how he used to :(

Strange, Bristow got Dartitis in the mid 80s, but made a good recovery, even got back to being ranked no1 in the world. Years later he was still throwing normally, if you watch his match against Taylor in the 1997 PDC world championship semi final, he is throwing normally. perhaps a bit slower, thats all. I can only assume the Dartitis came back sometime early 2000s. By 2005 he was throwing like he does now

Spot on Mate, Eric had a unique throwing action,Litlle pinky then wrapping the dart in the palm of His hand before release. To see His throw now is akin to a misfiring engine. I was just a humble Super league,and County player who was afflicted by the dreaded dartitis,many Years ago but overcame it,and found My rhythm like I did before. Eric on the other hand defies logic on how He cannot get back to His old throwing style.

It is so sad to see Bristow's throw now. I grew up watching him, Lowe, Wilson , that is what got me to love the game. I understand dartitis well, I have it now. I've gone from being the top player in my league to barely able to hold a dart now. As soon as I draw back my fingers curl up inside my palm and my finger tip grip is lost. I can hold a pen, a straw, even a cig. properly, but as soon as I get in front of a board the whole thing goes to hell. So yea, I understand what he's going though.

that quite upset me. I was always a Lowe fan but played Bristow in an exhibition match in about 1986-87. I used Lowe darts/flights and got a bit of stick off Eric- I was only 14. Turned out i played well - averaged nearly 80 and lost 3-2. Eric was true gent - and hit 3x180s in 5 legs. and had quite a long chat with me after

That's awesome you played him. I got to play him as well when I was either 14 or 15 at the Cleveland Dart Extravaganza. Best of 3, 501 he threw an 11 dart and a 12 dart game on me. after he crushed me he said "Sorry about that mate", being the snide 15ish year older I was I said, "no you're not" and we laughed. He signed my dart case and I still have it to this day.

Part of Eric's devastating ability hinged on him bringing the dart back and then delaying slightly as he sized up the target before release. As you say he developed a phobia whereby he would delay but then couldn't let it go. Clearly he has tried to combat this by installing that little shuffle with the dart but it doesn't work. Shame.

People criticising Eric Bristow should be reminded how dominant he once was. To beat him people like John Lowe and Jocky Wilson had to be at the very top of their game -- and they were two of the best ever.

Eric Bristow tells it like it is, but i think he has proved in the jungle that he is a very genuine man i think people who moan about him being nasty and horrible have no idea what it is like to be put into such an alian situation with 11 people who have different characters and different mind sets. Well done to Eric Bristow for simply being Eric Bristow, its refreshing to see no acting pretending and false niceities.
