This video shows how to easily make an electronic digital microscope from a webcam, computer, an old photoenlarger or a faulty CD-Rom. A digital microscope is easy to make at home.
Such a microscope is characterized by ease of use and low cost.
It can come in handy when soldering small components (SMD elements) during the repair of electronic products, identification of stamps and coins, as well as in many other cases.

hi diy generation...did you remove any lens from the webcam?...thanks for the video...i am planning to build a microscope using an old camera lens. any advice?

Thank you for watching. I removed the lens from the webcam. I did this because of the long fixed focal length of the webcam lens (usually the lens is designed for a distance of 0.5 - 1 m). My holder doesn't have that length, so I removed the webcam lens. I think it is possible to use a camera lens to make a microscope if it has a focal length adjustment. It would probably be even more convenient that way. But everything has to be tried in practice. I wish you a successful project! If you have any questions, let me know, I will tell you what I know).

@@diygeneration5566thanks for the reply. i am using a helios camera lens 44mm and an old webcam. i remove all the lenses and only have the CCD left. i started with a small gap from the camera lens and move the CCD (sensor) and slowly move it away but i am getting just an orange blurred output. i have the sensor inside a tube so i can move it like a telescope away from the camera lens. i also have the camera lens inside a pvc tube just a millimeter smaller that the pvc pipe holding the CCD. what am i doing wrong? the webcam is working if i assemble it back. help me.

@@newvaper3794 Hey, buddy. I used an old I-50Y lens (focal length 50 mm) in a microscope. The setup process is as follows: 1) I placed the web camera 5 cm away from the lens (my focal length is adjustable from 2 to 7 cm on the magnifier stand) 2) I raised this construction on the stand from 8 cm to about 15...20 cm (until I got a clear enough image outline) 3) I precisely adjusted the focal length to get the clearest and sharpest picture possible. 4) The subject should be well illuminated from the outside. If you have a backlight on the webcam, you need to turn it off. 5) The color tones of the image can be adjusted with the lens aperture. I'm not a lens professional and I don't have a lens like yours. Here is the information I found on the internet on the subject: helios camera lens 44mm has a focal length of 58.6 mm, so the lens should be placed about 6 cm away from the webcam. And in this position, you have to move this construction away from the object at a distance of 10 to 50 cm until the outlines of the image appear. The final sharpening can be done with the tube construction you have made. One more thing, are you sure that the lens is working, that it hasn't been disassembled and you haven't turned the lenses upside down? I wish you good luck. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to let me know, but I will be able to answer them in August. )

@@diygeneration5566 thanks for the quick reply. the camera is a ZENIT brand and has never been disassembled before. i set the aperture from smallest from the largest but same result. still blurred colors. i removed the led on the camera and used a desk lamp. it still did not pick up an image. i do not want to end up buying a chinese 1000x or 1600x microscope since i already have the parts laying around. i will try again and follow the steps you provided. i will update you. Keep Safe !!!

@@newvaper3794 In any case, write. I'm already interested. But I won't be able to answer you until the beginning of August. I am going on vacation and will not be able to deal with the channel. I wish you success.

I am not familiar with such a camera, but you can try it. I too took a webcam without any choice, tried it and it worked. I wish you a successful project.)

Yes, it's pretty easy, but very useful. This is the microscope I probably used in probably the third part of my videos).
