IMPORTANT PLEASE SEE THESE CORRECTIONS: In my rush to get this video out to everyone as fast as possible, I missed a few math errors. Sorry about that. I messed up and I take responsibility for them. These were careless mistakes and not a reflection of how I usually teach. I'll be sure to check my work more carefully in the future. Shoutout to @mai mai and @SomebodysVoice for catching these! You guys are all so smart and I have no doubt you're all on your way to acing the GED test and moving on to bigger and better things in life. You guys are the best. Thank you for trusting me with your attention as you prep for your test. I've got plenty more coming your way soon. If you find any more mistakes, please point them out! I'll have the downloadable version ready VERY SOON! Corrections: Problem 2 [@]: While doing 12-20, I somehow accidentally got -12. 12-20 is -8, NOT -12!!! The correct answer for question 2 is 216. Problem 8 [@]: The problem says to calculate how much Sam's sister will have paid him after 6 months including interest and principal. I correctly calculated the interest as $22.75. But I forgot to add this to the principal in the video. You would simply add 22.75 to 650. The correct answer should be $672.75.
Test Prep Champions so you said problem 2 is -8 and the correct answer is 216 but how? If you do 3(-8) it equals to -24+192 equals to 168 maybe im in the wrong can you explain please
I’m glad I read this comment because I was completely confused at that 😂. Hey you are human we all make mistakes… You are helping me tremendously, thank you so much!!! 👍🏼
@@andreaaoun4539 I don't know if it is correct or wrong but I think your answer is right cause I got the same answer as yours and I think I know why he got 216 24+192=216 which is not supposed to be right : correct me if I'm wrong :sorry my bad English :)
For question #2 -3 (12-20) + 3 x 4exponent3 the answer is not 228, it should be 216 -3 (-8) + 3 x 64 24+ 192 Answer is 216 Just for clarification, thanks
Completed my GED this morning, I’m so proud of myself. Thank you so much for all the videos, LA, science,SS and math 🙌 I’m almost 31 years old and I finally got my GED. If I can, then so can you. Goodluck to everyone 🤗
@@wigilucy8007 here’s a link of my video on the GED’s ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FS8qKYSD0tU.html This guy is amazing, he was very accurate. Same strategies but of course not the same questions
What state did you take yours in for me I know that in District of Columbia we have to take a Practice Ready test first to see if you are ready and then if your are you can proceed to taking your GED test. Did you have to do that also?
I watched this on the morning of my Math test, and I passed! Thank you for the helpful video! I highly recommend splitting the testing between two days. All 4 tests on one day would be a lot. Best of luck everyone! You got this! Never stop learning.
took all four test today on four hours of sleep. It is crazy long and exhausting to take all at once. I scored 168 in the language, 162 in social studies, 158 in science, and 153 in math. I live in Alabama by the way. I dont know if the testing is different elsewhere. Also keep in mind that I did very little studying for language, science, and social studies. All of the practice tests and practice test videos showed that it all came down to reading comprehension. I focused my time studying algerbra. Language was definitely the easiest for me. It was mainly reading a super long paragraph and answering around 7 based on said paragraph. I think i had to read 4 or 5 of these really long paragraphs. The stories were long and boring. In the end reading comprehension is all you really needed. In the essay, you have to read a really long paragraph that has two arguments. The goal of the essay is to decide who has the better argument based on the facts that are presented. Pulling out information from the essay was easy, but the compiling of information and typing it down in my own words took forever. I'm not a fast typer or good speller so this one was hard to do before the time ran out. Science was a bitch. It had much smaller paragraphs than the language portion, but it was so harder to understand. I felt like a couldn't understand English while reading most of these paragraphs. I almost didn't finish the test in time because I just had such a hard time reading the paragraphs. It seemed to be mainly testing your reading comprehension and knowledge of how to read graphs. It also threw several questions at me that told me to use a calculator. I didnt have a clue on what to calculate so I relied on reading comprehension and critical thinking to guess. Social studies was a lot like language but a little harder. You had to read long paragraph and answer the questions based on the paragraph. You had to read paragraphs from things like presidential speechs and answer questions like "What did president mean from this statement?"or "What can we infer is the presidents standpoint from his speech?" It also talks about the different government branches and what they do. I didnt know which branches did what so I wish I had studied up on the basic government branches and how bills, laws, and acts get passed. I dont remember a ton of questions that dealt with the branches but it definitely would have upped my score if I had know the basics. For math it had a lot word problems, make an algebraic equation from the word problems, solve for x type problems, and graphs. I cant think of anything else about math. Just make sure you understand how to graph, make an algebraic equation, factor, FOIL, fractions, exponents, etc. During testing I would have rather have done another math test than science because your brain didn't turn to absolute mush during math. I am actually surprised I didn't score higher on my math. Just remember to not stress yourself out before the test and not overestimate the test in your head. Im not saying it was an easy test but it definitely wasn't as bad as my mind made it out to be. To all my fellow test anxiety people, I wish you luck! You got this!
I'm going to ace my math test tomorrow morning hopefully. I believe that tomorrow is going to be the day I have been waiting for. And for everybody else, I pray that God help you to ace the math as well in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Thank you so much for all your videos. They helped me pass 2 of my test. I took my math today and I did surprisingly well. Mind you I'm a 34 year old who left school in the 11th grade. I married and became a mom and just kept putting it in the back burner. I decided to just go for it. Those of you that are studying word problems, is a main one, percentages, slopes, and geometry were often on my exam. Now just to do social studies. Good luck everyone
Whoever you are who can't sleep tonight, is tired or sad, believe that there will be tomorrow that will light up your beautiful days. You just need to endure a little more, a little more, and a little more ... Thank you for being patient, thank you for being able to survive. And as you read this, promise yourself that you will be able to get through your toughest days in the future. Promise to keep smiling, no matter how you are ... You deserve to be happy :)
I got everything mostly but having some hard times with slope. I rescheduled for tomorrow so I’ll be touching up on slope all night. Hope it works out in my favor. Math has gotten easier for me since watching all the videos!! That’s a miracle. Good luck everyone!
I finally passed my last exam today. You were my teacher. There were no videos left anymore to watch.. so, I decided to try..And I got it!! I want to thank you and wouldn't be enough. I wish you and your wonderful family an extraordinary life. You are a successful person and I admire you so much from the bottom of my heart!! I will never forget it. Thank you thank you thank you. Rosie ( I am Italian living in the States .)
Hi Rosie, that's fantastic!! I'm really happy to hear this and I wish you and your family an extraordinary life as well! You're more than welcome. I wish you the best of luck in the future!
Damn....... that actually felt like the real test!!! Thank you so much for helping, its nice to know there are still good people out here willing to help others! I just would like to comment the problems that I had trouble with....17, 19 and 20. #6 i didn't understand not adding in the 3.14 for Pi but i did the problem another way and still got it right. Are there any more videos with practice questions? They really help! : )
About question #2, Can you please elaborate 12 - 20 = -12. I’m so confused. I’ve never been to school and I can’t seem to understand why -12 is the answer. I got -8 btw
He did it incorrectly, you always subtract from the larger number. So you would flip the equation, subtract 12 from 20 to get 8 and because you flipped it you change it to negative.
Muchas Gracias por su tiempo y ayudar a muchos a lograr su sueño acabo de pasar mi test y soy una nueva graduada estoy tan feliz ! Gracias mil Gracias, Dios le Bendiga
Your helping a lot I have trouble focusing for long periods of time so I have been doing a few problems at a time. But this is the best ged prep I’ve come across yet! Just so you know when you post a comment make sure you pin it so that it is the top comment in the comment section, that way everyone sees it when you have to make a correction after you posted the video :)
Let me just say because of you I passed 2 if my test now I’m on to my math and I feel very confident about passing this one. Thank you so much for all that you do 🎉
The correct answer is -8, I made a stupid mistake in the video. Please see the note I wrote in the description or let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you.
Congratulations to everybody that passed I’m just starting my journey of getting mine that we all wished we would’ve done when were in school. On question number 2 which I definitely had wrong but I figured a positive 12 and a negative 20= -8 and I also thought I had to subtract 3 from both sides to get rid of the x because the way the x is positioned it looks like 3x instead of 3 x 4 to the 3rd power
I’m so happy 😀 I watched this video last evening and learned soooo much, I actually did algebra on my own and got it correct. 🙌 it made me felt so good that I decided to take the pretest right after and I passed 🤗 I have to study more so that I can understand slope of the line, factors, diameter and radius and of course basic algebra. I will be taking my test when I feel very confident because I just wanna get pass this. Maths is my last subject, I already passed science, LA, and social-studies. You are amazing and I wish I can hug you, I will update after my exam. Guys You can do it too, I’m almost 31 years old and dropped out of high school in the 11th grade due to depression.
I drop out of school in the 11th also due to social anxiety it was pretty debilitating. And I have been trying to get my GED also. I just dont know where to start. Congrats on everything
I failed my math test on Thursday and I am not discouraged I am going again and this time I am taking more hours to study I couldn't study much because I was not feeling well and slept in the night before so now I am preparing myself because I am about to do bigger and better things in the Navy I gave up high school to raise my kid and now he's 3 and his brother is 4 months and I just want them to be proud to have a smart mom and a hero 🥰 thank you Parker for helping us all I passed three subjects with your videos!!
your little drawings are amusing, it helps to visualize a problem! maybe you should use a stylus pen, so writing #s won't be so hard for you, and its legible. Or you could splitscreen mode, and videocam your calculations on paper on one side, and the other side is the test questions. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for the support! These are all great suggestions. I'll definitely look into a stylus pen and will consider trying some splitscreen stuff. I'm still learning all the ins and outs of making videos (as you can probably tell lol), so I appreciate all the ideas I can get. Thanks again!
Congratulations! I'm really happy to hear that you passed. You're more than welcome. I'm wish you the best of luck with whatever is coming next for you. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I’ve been watching your videos during my entire time of taking my GED exams and they’ve all been so helpful. I have my last exam (,which is the mathematical one) in two days and I am so thankful for your help!! I will update this comment when I know how it went. Just, thank you so much❤️
Hey, yes I did! I forgot to update the comment, so here’s what happened. The day of the exam i was pretty excited, not nervous, but excited and the videos this guy posts are amazing, so that boosted my confidence a lot more. Before even watching the videos, i felt like i never could have done the exams, just because i was scared of failing. Although sometimes you will think they’re pretty easy, the exam doesn’t have extremely difficult questions (especially towards the end and that isn’t only the case with Maths). Sometimes, however, you are going to find more difficult questions, which you will be able to answer, by learning things from the book. I used the Kaplan book, i think it’s called. This big, blue book. I also didn’t learn every single thing from it, as there is just SO MUCH information and i felt like i just wanted to get it over with. I had also previously already learned most of these things for all the subjects, except Maths. I will say, getting either a more difficult or easier exam is just pure luck. That said, they never truly are extremely difficult. One last tip i can still give you: I’m not sure if Maths is the only exam you still have left, but for all the other people who might come across this comment, just please remember this and it will assure you of getting much better grades!!! You will want to read every single question in DETAIL. Read it out to yourself, nice and loud in your head. Take apart the words and think the same question to yourself in other words - they love to get you mixed up, which will make you lose a bunch of time, make you overthink and finally have you choose the wrong answer. Make sure you know what they are asking from you and don’t get stuck on one question!! Move on to the next one, if you don’t know what to do, pick a random answer, flag it, so you have the option to come back and change the answer, if you still have some additional time left to check answers (which you probably will not have, but if you do, then great job!!). All in all, some people might think, passing the GED is impossible or extremely difficult. Passing all 4 subjects is actually not too difficult. You can pass it even faster/ easier if you get help from people on youtube too and don’t give up. Remember why you started and push through. Whoever’s reading this, i believe in you, because not many people believed in me. Good luck!
Thank you so much for all the helpful videos man. I want to get my GED to chhange my life after making a lot of bad choices and make my family proud. Also in honor of my best friend that passed away 2 years ago. He got his after he dropped out and always pushed me to get mine.
No problem. You're more than welcome. A big part of the reason I make videos is for those who need a second chance. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I wish you the best of luck!
thank u so much been out school way to long got me in some troubles an thinking i would never change my life or learn this stuff but thx to u an how u explain every thing really helped me out thx again. I now have hope for my future an goals in my life.
@@lorenacaro7670 don't be nervous... in my opinion you have an easy subject left to do. Two to three weeks I watched all of his videos just the math ones. The practice questions are very helpful if you have the time you should do all the practice questions with him. He does excellent explaining. Also there are lots of slope questions make sure you understand that very well. Word problems are very important to understand as well. Good luck!
Kayla K it was challenging but trust me this man gives you everything you need to know!! This is the only one i studied and i only studied for 4 days. I dropped out in 10th grade math being my worst subject. You got this!!
If there's any way you can help. I'm on a ged practice test and this is the question. At the end of every month, Katie saves 20 percent of her take home pay after taxes. If Katie is taxed at a 25 percent tax rate, and S represents Katie’s monthly salary before taxes, which of the following expressions represents Katie’s total savings at the end of six months? After tax income=S−S(0.25) After tax income=0.75S How did they come up with 0.75S? They dont explain that
First, consider this: 1-.25 =.75. Now in the equation S-S(.25), think of S as 1S. So 1S-.25S=.75S. Is that what you were asking about? Or were you asking how they made the after tax income equation?
Test Prep Champions no you answered it perfectly! I got a 160 on my ged practice test and i am scheduled to take the real test this Thursday! I’m stoked! Next will be language arts.
Wanted to thank you for all that you do and the time spent teaching people like myself that use to say I'm not good at math.. as of today I can say that no more... I passed my GED math test!!!!!!! thanks to all of you videos, Keep doing what you are doing!!!!!
Glad u passed ! i need to review this video acouple times to get it in my head , i sadly never really paid attention to my teachers in high school and regret that , thanks to this video he's being easy on math rookies like me
I love your videos I almost have my whole ged 75 percent complete you helped me get a 150 on my science so ty so much do you have any videos on linear equations and using the slope? Those are some of the last things I need to work on before I take the test thank you again for all your help !
This is my consultative page for all my 3 GED tests, RLA SCIENCE and SOCIAL STUDIES. Tomorrow I’m doing Math and I’m here AGAIN!!!. This is so so so so useful, it’s been useful and very informative. I hope to ace my shit tomorrow as usual.
u are the first person that I saw under numerous GED math practice videos that gained a high score! Good job! my science, social studies, and math sections are tomorrow, hope I can pass them:)
Sorry I have to correct you on question two. You said -3(12-20)+3×4^3 is "228". I got "216”. You said (12-20)= -12 but it is -8. But I am surprised I got the answer though, I checked to see which answer was right on the calculator just to be sure, because I was certain the answer to the parenthesis part was -8 and the calculator also got "-8" and to double check at the end I did use a calculator and it also got "216".
@@TestPrepChampions It's ok! It helped me pay close attention, so it actually helped a bit. Since I'm usually not that great in math, I was surprised that I actually figured it out, so your videos have helped A LOT along with many helpful channels that explain math very well. :) Speaking of which, thank you SO MUCH for these videos!! I will be taking my math test soon. It will be the last subject I have to take.
I've been staying along with each questions doing as brush up because i didnt pass my first ged math test by one question so hopefully this helps me pass
your videos they have been so help full Thank you. just fyi the answer on question two should be 216 I believe you might have made an over sight when you said +12--20 = -12 just so people don't get confused. I feel the way you are wording your questions are not clear. I found you other subjects to be much better then your math video. either way thank you for the time you spend helping us all we appreciate it
Hey Parker, just a quick question about problem #2, without the calculator. I got -8 for (12-20) but you used -12 and I got a different answer when using -8. My final answer came out to be 216. I added 24 + 192 instead of 36 + 192. I'm not sure where you got the -12 for (12-20). Can you elaborate, please?
Hi, thank you for watching! Sorry for the confusion. I made a mistake on the second question while making this video. Your answer is correct. Again, sorry for the confusion. Good luck to you!
You can NOT add unlike-terms (192x+24 are not meant to be added, they are the answer, you can old add things like 192x+24x because these are like-terms)
Today is my final test and it’s math I’m currently outside of the resting room rewatching this video I am really bad at math but hopefully I wish everyone whose stuck in this the best of luck you got this
Hi love your study guides been super helpful as i study but for #18 you chose to round from the beginning... which the answer at the end rounds one cent higher then if you were to wait til the end amount to round.....$25.42728 which would be $25.43... would they mark it wrong if we chose to round from the beginning like in your example? tyia!!!
Problem 4: after plugging in the square root of 296 in my calculator, I’m getting 2square root 74. My question is, how did you plug it in the calculator and get 17.2 in decimal point?
for the problem number 2 I got -8 so i plugged that in im really confused on how you got -12 when 12-20= -8 not -12? can you explain this for me please. :]
On problem 18.) when doing 19.99 x 6% in my calculator I got 1.994. Then added the 19.99 to that. The total was now 21.1894 then I x that by 20% and got the answer 4.23788. After adding 19.99 to the 4.23788 I was left with 24.22788… would this also be considered a correct answer if I rounded that up? Please let me know
I notice the formula for the surface area of a cylinder is 2(pie)rh+2(pie) r square. but you wrote it differently. does it matter? Also thank-you so much for these lessons! solving question 20 left me stumped..
Good question! No, it doesn't matter. The formula can be written as 2(pi)rh+2(pi) r squared or as 2(pi)r squared + 2(pi)rh. It will give you the same answer. Here's why. The cumulative property of addition states that changing the order of numbers you're adding does not change the sum. For example, 18pi + 36pi = 54pi, and 36pi + 18pi also equals 54pi. Does that make sense? As for question 20, is there a particular part that you got stuck on, or is the whole question giving you trouble? If it's the whole question, then I have another video where I cover a very similar example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dr7g3USwfE8.html. It might help. I'm glad this video helped you out, good luck on your test!
@@TestPrepChampions yes that does make sense for my formula question. Thanks. I watched the link you sent me and sort of understand. It's just a lot of steps. I have the 2019 Kaplan book and it doesn't cover those problems
On problem 8 didn’t the question ask how much Sam’s sister paid him back “including both interest AND principal”/not just “interest? So what about the 650? Shouldn’t you add that back to the 22.75?
For the first problem for the (1+2^2) Why couldnt we do 1+2=3^2 I thought we are supposed to do what's in parenthesis first. I'm a confuse about that part can you explain that please
