This moment is one of my favorites because throughout pretty much the whole series, Haru has shown almost zero emotion, and when he did, it was a kind of quiet emotion. Seeing him outspoken, and angry, is something really different, amazing, and it reminds you that he is human.
Lol I remember watching this the first time and being like when did this show become so real wtf I signed up for shirtless guys swimming not feelings and making me question my own future
How Haru gets upset at Makoto since Makoto is also questioning Haru about his future. How Haru gets surprised since Makoto finally snaps at him. It's the first time that Makoto has actually yelled at him, and not in a way where he simply raised his voice. Haru looks affected after Makoto yelled at him but gets mad again when Makoto mentions the future. Haru snaps and in the moment simply says whatever at Makoto. This is the moment where he tells Makoto that Makoto always meddles in everyone else's business, and that he shouldn't do that when he hasn't figured out his future either. Makoto looks hurt, poor baby. And in the moment when Makoto finally lets go of Haru's hand, we can see how hurt and confused Haru is. We have always seen Makoto reaching out to hold Haru's hand, yet here, Makoto lets go. This simple action has so much meaning behind it. It's showing how Makoto is finally letting Haru go. How he isn't going to decide things for Haru anymore. He won't be dependent on Haru or let Haru be dependent on him. He wants to see Haru move forward, even if it means that Makoto will be left behind.
This scene is pure gold because you can see how much Haru cares about Makoto and seems like he took him for granted. BUT I WISH THEY SHOWED MORE OF HARU'S FEELINGS ABOUT THIS LATER.
i've always found the camera work of this scene so good. The shaky and blurring motions added to the impact of the argument. My favorite was the one at
