You can do this on any sewing machine that has a zigzag stitch. Lower the feed dogs or cover the feed dogs (feed dogs are the little teeth coming from inside the machine that moves the fabric along.). Next take off your foot ( the part that holds the fabric down). Next hoop your fabric so it is stable, and decide how wide you want your stitch to be. Put your pressure bar down ( like you would do for regular sewing) and start sewing. The trick here is a LOT of practice and keep the hoop moving without twisting the hoop. It is not easy, but doable with any machine that can do zigzag, which is why they would advertise zigzag machines as being able to do embroidery.

Saya belajar jahit sulam pd tahun 1997. Saya beli mesen jahit sulam Singer 20U. Msa tu harga nya rm 1,450.00. saya bli peralatan jahit sulam. Benang sulam. Ram ( pemidang ). Kain cotton warna pink. Carbon 2 keping. Pensil, pensil warna. Ion solder. Kertas minyak, gunting. Tali ukur. Saya belajar 1 minggu sehingga pandai. X tahu blh dtng rmh guru bertanya.. mulanya jahitan saya x lawa terasa susah nya jahit sulam. Saya rsa give up tpi bila saya fikirkan nak besar kn 2 orang anak2 nya kekuatan itu dtng kembali. Adik beradik saya bri kekuatan tunjukkan contoh baju sulam yg mereka tempah d kedai.. saya pn Cuba buat jahitan secantik nya. Syukur pd Allah SWT akhir nya saya berjaya. Alhamdulillah 😀🤲💝🌹

In early 90's this kind of work was very much in demand and i as a kid grown up watching my dad doing this work and many workers were there at Papa's shop who were expert in doing this embroidery. But gradually this kind of work lost its craze and many businesses closed, this video gave me quick flashback of my childhood.
This is awesome. I'm sure it took a lot of practice. And just knowing that this can be done with a regular sewing machine is incredible. I just might want to try it. Are there more tutorials on the free hand embroidery with a regular sewing machine to learn more about it? Thanks foe sharing.
Years ago I did this on the backs of jackets for companies. We didn’t have embroidery machines then. I designed the logos and embroidered all of the designs one by one. I had a Juki industrial and the trick is to go much slower than you’re going and don’t keep going over it.
Finally I can see how this is done! I bought a sewing machine years ago and the picture on the box showed a letter embroidered. I don't really sew and couldn't make the connection, until now!
Yes it is manual many using this in Brunei a regular zigzag machine like singer 20u and juki LZ-271 control by hand and knee..i am a sewing machine mechanic until now 😊
