Listen to him, Brian has achieved every goal he has ever set except applying sunscreen and not sounding like he gargles battery acid. Just testing to see if he still reads the comments. Interesting program, I might give it a try.
I purchased a program from Brian earlier this year. I finished it a couple of weeks ago and guys, if you have some spare money, it is 100% worth it. The first day I felt like I was gonna die, the last days I felt like a beast. All my lifts went up more than I expected. I will definitely get more programs from Brian in the future, it’s worked extremely well for me.
ooHashim I have only run his program once, although I will be doing it more times in the future given the results. Got in average a ~10% increase in my 4 lifts (a bit better on squats, bit worse on bench. But that’s because I think my legs react better to this sort of tough training). I’ve been powerlifting for a bit more than one year now.
same for me man! I lost 20 lbs my squat went up like 60 lbs deadlift went up 50 pounds (bench stayed the same which is still a gain because i lost so much weight)
Your programming from your site started just like this with the exception of the EMOM’s. I can state wholeheartedly that this works. Once people get a grip on they’re conditioning, there is no limit. I’ve dropped 15 pounds, and can see my abs for the first time since my 20’s. It took a minute for my weights to start moving up, but that was due to my poor conditioning. I recall stating to Brian years ago that his programming was so rough. He set me straight, so I decided to drink the kool-aid. My work capacity sucked. Now I am an unstoppable force of nature. Do the work, give it your all, and you too will feel like this! Thanks Brian.
Been doing your previous linear four day, 12 week program. Started early Jan after 10 year layoff, at 163 lbs, 53 years old .... now, still 53, but gained 25 lbs, hit new PRs - in only four months - 305 bench, 315 deds, 275 squat today! Your programs work!!!
I did this program for half my off season with no supports, best thing I ever did, gained 8kg body weight, beltless deadlift went up 25kg, and belt deadlift went up 10kg, overhead press went up to 90kg beltless and with a belt a 15kg pb jump to 105kg with a lot more in the tank, and front squat didn't move too much, was able to get 140kg comfortably where as before I struggled badly. Top program to combine with beltless to strengthen the core
Man, I just finished 5his program. I have never been complimented so many times on how my body has changed after a program. No joke, I walk through a parking lot of a tire shop on the way to my gym. One guy came out to meet me and say congrats on my transformation in behalf of the whole crew who watch as I pass. They went from roasting me to going "them shoulders, though" That's not even mentioning all the improvements in blood work, vitals, or sleep. I'm a fat dude so of course I focus on the compliments. Lol I still have a long way to go to be where I want but you've given me such a great start. Thanks for all you do for us.
Can confirm, Brian's programs are brutal, but worth it! I picked one up in order to help me prep for my first strongman comp and I was absolutely crushed by the end of the week, each and every week. My numbers went through the roof though, so I highly recommend, and I look forward to picking this program up... once I get the money lol.
Dude, your free linear progression program is kicking my ass! Those giant sets back to back are f**king lethal but damn I'm looking good. Will grab this program when I'm done with the linear. Keep up the good work Brian. (And keep them coming)
I have paid for his personal programming and its worth it for sure. Its not the just the same program for everyone. He looked at what equipment, limitations, time, etc that I had and wrote it intelligently with those in mind. A lot of volume but well written.
I've followed several of Brian's programs. Each is insanely difficult, but they have resulted in several PRs in all of my main lifts. I highly recommend any or all of them.
I wish I would have read these comments and replies sooner! I am on my last week of the program and I have been doing dynamic effort at 85% EMOM! I nearly passed out on squat and deadlift day! Glad to see the %’s revert back to 50% at the beginning of each wave.
Brian! I missed you! Haven't been able to watch RU-vid for a while, I will definitely buy either this or another program to support my favorite strongman :) 💪
So today was my squat day. I watched this last night and set up programming this way today. My rep was 5ME. The variation was pause squats. Top set 180x5 with a 3 second pause. I’m 155 lbs. I’m pretty new to lifting. And pause squats make me sad. 😂. By the end of the dynamic effort, conditioning and assistance. I was shaking in the legs. And core. And upper back. And my soul. So. Does this set up work amazing? The answer is HELL YES. I’m going to do this for 12 weeks and hopefully crush some pr’s. THANK YOU SO MUCH BRIAN!! You are AWESOME! I love this channel so much my man! Inspiration!
Just finished this program and almost through the second week of testing. Just OHP to go. Went from an 1130 total at 185lbs to a 1205 total at 190lbs in 10 weeks... I'll take that all day! I test OHP tomorrow, and I'm sure that'll be up too. Thanks so much Brian. Very generous of you to lay out these templates for those of us that can't swing a personalized program. You're an animal.
I can definitely vouch for the fact that these programs are brutal. Not to mention how much more brutal (and exciting) a personalized program is. You may think you’re working hard by using Brian’s past programs (and believe me you will be) but, there’s nothing like someone else pushing you through the brutality on paper and you having to follow it or you’ll just stay where you were before your started the program. Thank you for yet another awesome program Brian!
Man your programs get better everytime you release them. Ive never tried a program laid out like this so im excited to try this. Thank you Brian. Definetly sharing this on my fb for other people to try.
Love these programming videos. Just hit a 1345 total at my first meet using a modified version of your linear progression program. Trying to reach a lifetime goal of 1600. Would love to see a video on what resources you would recommend (channels, podcasts, books, article databases, websites etc)
I'm finishing off a cycle of Beyond 5/3/1 this month. So I'll gird my loins and do this next. Also if you want your whiteboard to show on camera a bit better consider diffusing the light some.
Brian's programs are 1000% legitimate. you definitely become more athletic AND stronger so as a random name on the internet, i can't recommend his work enough
Brian's programs are 100% worth it both myself and my other half have both bought programs and that's not something we would normally do. Having the best time at the gym with these. Hard but so good!
Ok I finished the program and these are my results Squat: 210 -> 260 Bench: 205-> 225 Deadlift: 315 -> 340 OHP: 120 -> 135 Weighted pullup: 100 ->135 Good program, only criticism is that you cant maximize volume work since you're already drained from 5/3/1 rm
Brian, thank you for your free programs and videos and all the things I learned from you! The things you do and say go so much further than lifting heavy things! You really live the things you say. Coming back like this from a really big shoulder injury is amazing man! Brian, that is special. There are not many people on this earth like you man. And humble to. I heard you are writing a ebook(?). I never bought a program or t-shirt from you, but I promis I will buy your ebook! Thank you, Brian!
Thank you Brian! I have said this before, but I would like to say this again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and doing great things! It's on my bucket list to come visit your gym and workout at your gym! I don't know when or how long I would stay, but I do know I will one day! I love everything about this channel! Everyone and everything is awesome and of course you are awesome!
Recently found your channel thanks to @untamedstrength watching videos about owning your own gym. It is quickly becoming my new favorite channel. I am 37 and I too am an aspiring gym owner. Your gym setup it pretty much what I had in mind. I feel gyms like this are severely lacking. Definitely giving this program a go starting today!
Started this program after I saw the video. Day after deadlifts I haven't felt a good lift like that in a long time. Can't wait to see results, thank you for your hard work!
On the 4th week of the powerbuilder program template you put out here a while back. Started the second wave this week and it feels like I've been making improvements. Thanks for putting out all this content and an early happy birthday sir!
Finishing the first month of your free LP...It's fucking killer. I may try this after after the the LP. When I have the cash I'll definitely hit you up. Thanks for the content Brian.
I’m excited to give this a go. I like people that are born on May 26th apparently. It’s my wife’s birthday as well haha. Thanks for the great content!!!
I will be joining a powerlifting/strongman gym in the next few months. I think starting this program when I join would help me immensely. Been incorporating giant sets and other suggestions that Brian has made has benefited immensely. Maybe after a year of using the program I will have to buy a program. The next 2 years will be exciting. Thank you so much Brian for the part you have played in that.
Just finished day one, using pause deadlifts as my variation! Damn that was brutal and great fun! Those giant sets are no joke! Left me gasping! Can not wait for day two. Thank Brian for giving us another super workout.
We need a behind the scenes video when you are shooting one of these. I am certain the transition moments in between shots, outtakes, etc.... would be comedy gold.
Hi Brian, could you please do a video on "how to build up to your 5RM/3RM/1RM in 30 minutes"? Like starting weight, recommended jumps, planned number of tries, rest between tries, etc. When the book will be out? Things like this are going to be covered? When are you going to do another Q&A video? Lots of questions....
I am clearly not Brian so take this w/a grain of salt. But based on just watching his videos, yes I expect the answers to your questions will be in the book. Specifically, I believe he said in this video to rest 90 seconds between giant sets. I would also not wait for the book regarding how to build up to a certain rep max for the day. Maybe 4-6 reasonable steps toward the max, you'll have to feel it out, especially if you have no idea what you are going to hit for that day (like when you are starting out). If you do too many or too few you will figure it out quickly when you don't hit your expected number, and you'll be better prepared for next time. A mistake like that isn't going to hurt you too bad. I think that is a little of the self-regulation Brian talked about. If you do way too many warm-up sets your max for that day might be a little low because you killed yourself warming up. And so the rest of the workout will adjust accordingly. If you nail it and get a peak max for the day, look out because you're gonna kill the rest of that workout. Again, not Brian, not an expert, take this w/a grain of salt. Just trying to help.
Nah I'll do Vshreds program thanks... jokes, might actually get fucking strong if I run Brians Program lol. Glad to see you looking a little better dude, more uploads if you don't mind :)
I love the info, I really appreciate that you make it free. As a poor college student, free has become my favorite word. But once I get a paid internship, I'll let you take some of my money!
Finished my first day of Darkhorse. I hated you so much by the end of it I did preacher curls just to spite you, haha. Good program, man, can’t wait to see my results by the end of it. Thanks for sharing!
I love your videos and the content you produce. Always have to watch them 2-3 times because you make me laugh so much it's like someone videoed my ADHD mind lol
This looks fun. I think I’m going to complete three months of his Linear program first so I am much more accustomed to these giant sets and conditioning burnouts
Have you thought about a subscriber-based funding option like Patreon? Like you said, people would probably pay $2 for a coffee even though it would save them $400-$600 a year if they made it at home.
Could use some help with the testing side of it. Deload week - Cut my last 5ME sessions in half? Test weeks - For the days you are not testing (since we will only half of the big 4 each week), is it just another deload day?
Brian, great videos! I just recently discovered your content and your information is helpful, useful and motivating. After years of watching RU-vid personalities I can tell your channel will will be one of the top ones 100%. One favor to ask: I like to listen during workouts. You’re a little too calm and collected. I know it’s your style, but I like to listen to vids during workouts because I train at a commercial gym. Can you do one that’s loud, heavy and amped? Sometimes I like the screaming and thrashing of weights to get me fired up. Makes me feel like I have serious training partners. If not, no big deal, I already have CT Fletcher for that! Thanks!
Great great stuff man. You should definitely should have way more suscribers. I am currently training gymnastics 3 days a week and I looking for a general strength program. Do you think I can work this out on my combined with my gymnastics practice? Thank you very much and I Wil be sharing this so more people can suscribe
Brian Alsruhe you and my son have the same birthday. Thank you for this video. I love your videos and the way you break things down brother. Blessing on you and all you do thank you
MEET RECAP Alright everyone, I competed yesterday and I'm going to lay things out here. I competed as an open men's middle weight at the first annual Strong Barbell Club Strongman Meet. It was a great time and a very competitive class. I won my weight class in front of a three way tie for second. The events were as follows. Carry and load medley. 200 keg, 150 sandbag, 225 keg, and 200 sandbag. Carry distance got shorter each implement. Just under 25 seconds on this event. Max log, rising bar. I got 245 and 265. Miss at 275 despite hitting 270 in training. Good enough to win the event and get a 15 lb competition pr. Yoke walk. 50ft, no turn. 640lb yoke took 24 seconds. I couldn't get the woke straight and it was ugly. Super heavy for me, last place in this event. Max deadlift, rising bar. The meet was run by JP price, a prominent powerlifter. He put deadlift last to make it a spectacle, and boy it was. I opened at 529 went to 551 got both and won the event. Feeling good, I went for 573 a 17 lb meet pr and got it. Next post will detail changes I took the liberty of making to the program.
Let's talk about changes, I said I'd run a variation and I did. The biggest change was not super setting complimentary movements with main movements. I treated them as the first of my accessories. Rep scheme was very similar to Jim Wendler's Boring But Big protocol. Moderate weight for 5 sets of 10.
awesome as always, Brian, thank you very much. I absolutely love your programs! one question though: if using bands/chains for the Dynamic Effort, how do you calculate the 55%? band-tension at the end or at the beginning of the movement?
I wanna try this out so bad lol. Once I get off my cut, I'm trying this for sure. And I always share your videos. Hope you get to 100k soon, brother. Btw are we to rotate the strength variation movements week by week?
