What are your thoughts about Wirestocks pivot to AI and going full $$$$? Watch my Full Wirestock Playlist ru-vid.com/group/PLkmCjA4A3Tj1m90GBrW9y63LEsUF6Ix3B
Agree 👍 The premium subscriptions like $12.99 is wild. Like ive been on platform like year or 2 and uploaded few hundreds pictures here and there. But obviously didn't make any money few cents only. No newbies or mediums hobby photographer's going tp pay that money for subscriptions when wont get anything back in return. Wirestock definitely needs to change the membership and amounts of submissions a month etc. It will be only place for the "big fish" contributors.
Ridiculous. In just over a year they've gone from begging people to sign up with a $5 bonus to charging more than that per month, and even then submissions are limited. I think they really underestimated their labor costs for approval, keywording, and submission, and possibly overestimated their approval rates at the stock agencies. Keeping those costs in check was the reason it was taking months for approvals. Now they've figured out that with that model and the paltry 3 cents or whatever they make with each sale, they'll never break even unless they find another revenue stream.
Yep, pivoting for the latest hot trend. Just imagine if NFT's were still a hot commodity. great point about those .03 extra channels sales. Although with those sales (miro, envato, etc.) wirestock takes a much larger percentage if i recall.
You were talking about the submission but normal people who have just started actually only get 100 so for them to get the subscription and go to 200 it's actually an upgrade
I thought this happened a while ago? It’s hard to keep up with. They make a lot of changes. I had high hopes early on, but it has been going downhill for a while now. Great video Joel!
They seem to make massive changes every several months. I feel the same way. Wish it was the other way around as I liked what they were originally trying to do. 😕
I have noticed something some of the sites have been changing together but in different ways if you don't want to pay and you are interesting in AI images Adobe stocks is actually now the best place to be they have added a feature like wire stock where you do not have to put releases for ai content just put down it is fictional but it does mean you cannot put AI things like Doctor Who up That is fictional but it's not fictional it also auto generates tags
Just be honest most normal people like me don't actually get sales I'm actually throwing money away but really you do have to wait a month or two to be sure that it isn't working so you do have to waste some money but my issue is if they're in 100% control of your stuff there's no real way of growing your growth relies on them also these sites are not the people who get attached to their stuff so you talking about just literally just dumping loads of images on there that's what people are doing anyway in my opinion on all these sites I don't think you should get attached to your images at all it's not when a farmer gets attached to their animals you can't do that the animals are food not friends they are to be eaten the same with stock photos they ought to be sold and used by other people don't get too attached to them because it won't be yours for long if they sell they're everyone's just a thing I want to throw out there
I didn't know there was a normal wire stock search if I need to promote it more if there is they need it to be like as popular something like stock photo to be worth it or maybe that they are going to try and do that maybe it's working progress maybe that's where they want to be but they're not there I didn't even know existed
they have had a images search function for business accounts (direct sales) I think i went over this in one of my early wirestock videos (don't remember which one).
I submit AI stuff I'll be honest but I do make sure it looks decent sometimes you get oddities on the image they will reject that they don't like it but the most popular stock site does accept it and that is Adobe Adobe has their own generator as well so there is a bit of a loop there if you generate some good images you can put them back on their site where they'll be used to create another image the web site becomes a data set One of the big problems with these sites is the AI art can rectify is that the The image you buy other people have as well art generator is rectify That's for some people but then you can always sell it again but it does mean you're not the only one who has an image
I don't know why they don't just become a proper stock site for their own proper search and maybe have some sort of advertising to help with revenue I mean I was on pixels but that was giving things out free I was hoping people would donate never happened but they are operations for free because ads I'm not sure about click a snap I am a little worried about their future as well because they don't seem to be no old-fashioned advertising which I think they would benefit from because you have to pay a subscription to sell stuff on there as well and to have no upload limits but that is like the RU-vid for images
I dispute the legal stuff of course AI is transformative but there is a legal level we don't understand and that is to do with the companies and if they're following the right rules to gather these images in the first place we will never like that in the UK I think they do it under research laws in the EU they have a bigger range of exceptions including commercial so it's legal there as well to do it but whether it's legal or illegal to gather other people's content to train algorithms it doesn't affect the individual user because the law doesn't apply to those only far use law
Sure, I am not saying that some AI is/can be transformative. But at least in the United States it is a legal grey area. You are correct, it is primarily the AI companies burden and also the stock agencies. I dont think contributors will have much exposure except when it comes to copying certain artists styles.
They have already made these changes I discovered him yesterday with my subscription updated I do pay for it whatever you think of this change a lot of effort does go into the automatic tagging and all that game I don't know how they do it I'll submitted like 100 images nobody comes to the i subscription I don't know how to see this some might say as a bit of a rip off because when you talk about AI images you talked about something you can create easy which means 200 images won't be enough and now they are doing special AI releases that are pre-done which I think is a good idea but I'm not sure where they are legally with that because these releases have my signature on them I did not sign them the signature has come off the releases I made before the AI releases were created isn't that technically fraud I didn't consent to my signature on these things I don't mind I think it's a good idea but perhaps they should have asked or had some sort of switch for automatic releases because they do have your signature on them you did not sign them
@@RandomHartzI think people think I have flips on this especially at wire stock but he's not true I have always been far making releases easier but what I don't mean is putting people signatures on documents without the consent That is forgery and fraud I'm not saying they should not do automatic releases all they have to do is send you an email to you giving you the ability to tick a box
Interesting analogy. Although they do provide a service (keywording and submissions), I'm not sure it is valuable enough for the majority of stock contributors. Especially the ones they have been marketing to.
@@RandomHartz sure they provide a service, but they already take a cut, so now it’s double dipping. A percentage increase in their cut would have been more “civilised”.
Actually I think the best place to sell images it actually Adobe I don't know why I don't know what it is with them I think it's because they've been around for centuries that name because you have a don't be this Adobe this and it'll be that so I think schools tend to use it Adobe Photoshop and it is probably integrated into everything these images I have sold things on that a long time ago two things where I've sold more or less nothing The only thing they really need to improve is they need to make an app there is no ab which means I do it on my phone in desktop mode phone modes is what British people call naf
