You are an amazing teacher. And yeah, I just jumped in; but I didn’t jump in alone and without guidance from a wonderful teacher. Currently I’m working on horse nose and nose band tutorial on your Patreon. I’ve also done the horse eye. Many of my friends have noticed a tremendous difference from when I was learning on my own, to learning from you. I didn’t truly understand layering until I learned it from you. You’re the BEST teacher I’ve learned from for colored pencil.

Great workshop, haven't touched my coloured pencils in a few years. Got me up to speed quickly on some layering and key points about pencil pressure and directional mark making. Great for anyone, no matter what there drawing or colouring skill levels. Thanks Bonny!

I love that you redraw the eye each time so that each session is unique. I understand that when doing a commission work you would want to be very specific in getting the details of the owner’s pet, but I like, and appreciate, the freedom and ease you create for the student who is learning how to master these techniques. I’m totally new to drawing and coloured pencils and you style puts me at ease and lets me know it’s ok to not be perfect in the beginning. It helps lower my anxiety as a beginner. Thank you so much. You are a fabulous artist and teacher.

This is exactly what I have been looking for. Your tutorial on the blue cat eyes. I'm trying to attempt a portrait of my Siamese cat and this was very helpful. I am very new to colour pencils and animal portraits, you have made it very easy. You also took your time in the demonstration to explain what and why you are using the colours and techniques. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Great video, love how you explain how to build up deep colours for the pupils. I’ve recently brought polychromos and love them. Previously I would have just used black for pupils but now have a better understanding of achieving a deep colour.

Hi Bonny, is me again, I couldn't get the name of the white pencil you use for the blending,I normally use a white china pencil from Derwent as suggestion from one friend,but I would like to try your white pencil as well, I have the Polychrom pencils, plus other sets, I am crazy about colour pencils !!!♡

Great stream Bonnie. Although I felt frazzled trying to keep up😂 My first go with pastelmat. I'm so used to pastels it'll take getting used to. I've done CP on fabriano with solvent, which, is a whole other beast. I had fun with these eyes. Thank you! Look forward to more.

Had to leave last night after 1st eye so didnt hear the mention of working on a spaniel ear. I would love to join in on that if or when you do it.... would be fabulous 💕💕 also what was the sticky things you use to keep the pastelmat board adhered to your work surface?

:) Yes I'll put up some info about it :) the sticky things are the Faber Castell tack-its. they're not infallible, but are pretty good :)

Christine Darbyshire thank you 😊 the powder blender is more for sanded papers and you’d need to fix it with workable fixative before the next layers. No harm in experimenting though 😊

Dear Bonny I am very new to learning from you on tutorials. I am not totally new to drawing .but am trying to extend my skills by watching you. I have a big job at the moment drawing two almost all white rag doll cats on white paper. The photo I am working from is very bright and I cannot tell which way the fur is going. Biggest tip when you cant see fur direction is to just work with light and dark 🥰

Fantastic video as always! You do such a great job explaining everything. Could you at some point talk about how to put in shadows into a commission when they are are blocked by something else in the reference photo. Hope that makes sense.

They’re not round - they have an oval shape and once you add the hair around they’ll change again 🥰

@@BonnySnowdonAcademy I’ve just drawn the same eyes and that’s when I noticed I adjusted my eyes and they look a bit better now they maybe slightly oval but I coloured the whole lot blue and either side of the eye is skin and fur if you know what I mean ,I’m just learning ☹️
