Did I tell you about the time when I got some free walnut slabs and split them into firewood? No? Oh, well enjoy!

The blue pallets are coast to coast. I get them when I can way down here in Louisiana. Nobody l, I know of here, burns anything other than hardwood in fire pits because everyone cooks over the flame/coals. Food tastes nasty over pine. I will set a grate over the coals and cook whatever just for the heck of it. It could be chicken thighs, tuna steaks, burgers, complete breakfast and so on. This past Friday night I cooked fresh frog legs and gulf shrimp. All over red oak. Fun show and I appreciate it.

Yes, I think I saw C to C branded on those pallets. I guess you a point bc folks there are cooking over the fires versus just having the fire going. Send up some frog legs and golf shrimp ;) Keep cuttin'!!

@@travisdoesfirewood I’ll do my best to send some. Shrimp and frogs are locally caught! Shrimp are from Grand Isle, frog are from near Pierre Part. Both in Louisiana.

Kidding buddy. I was hoping to get some gulf shrimp while I was in Florida this April but I couldn't find any in the Park.

i like the split screen video with action and explanation. i was surprised to see some of the wood bend vs spliting.

@travisdoesfirewood Месяц назад
That was just for you! I should have recorded the commentary in another area so there was more contrast. But I figured a split screen was better than a voiceover. And me too, the wood was funky like that. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

Those blue pallets are hardwood, the ones i see seem to usually be oak. There used to be a $15.00 deposit on them once upon a time. And camp fire wood, i agree with you, i have never sold hardwood . People are happier with softwood, it crackles and pops, bigger flames, and its so much easier to light. People want to drink beer and see flames, it would be silly to waste good hardwood. Pine is about the best there is. Cheers bro

I know my option may be in the minority. For sure the snap, crackle, pop is great for outdoor fires. Remember, #pineisfine. Thanks for watching Chris, keep cuttin'!

No walnut this far North but we do have a lot of paper birch and planted Manitoba Maple. There are also some larger planted willow but them and the maple can be a serious pain to split the way the grain twists.

Twists and knots made for great winter firewood, right? Yay! Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

@@travisdoesfirewood it does, although in reality the maple grows so fast it isn't very dense usually it is better than Aspen.

Oh man, i can't tell you how much wood i have split up over the years that was gorgeous and could have been used for something other than firewood. I have only had walnut twice, and it burns great

Sad reality but it's $ nontheless. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin' Dan!

Looks like somebody had big hopes for the walnut that didn't work out as they planned but it worked out with your plan!

@travisdoesfirewood Месяц назад
It wasn't ideal but still a $ maker. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!

Them walnut cuts were straight when they were made, most likely, ive done those to make cutting boards etc, the wood drying is hard to control and they all get curvy
@travisdoesfirewood
@travisdoesfirewood Месяц назад
Oh I bet it is hard to control curviness while drying, no doubt. This walnut has been a $ maker this far, just don't have much of it sadly. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!
