This is a most excellent video for beginning swimmers, even if it is about snorkeling and not free diving. It contains some very important points to consider.
While I recognize that this is snorkeling and not free diving - its a fantastic video. Me being completely new to this world, I think this was a great first step.
Very nice information I like this idea I like this vidio excellent 👍👍👍👍👍👍 thanks for very important information I like this I wait for your new video Free diveing
Freediving irrelevant, it hurts my eyes to watch this video with snorkelers keeping snorkels in their mouth, totally against safety of freediving all over the world. OK with some basics but very wrong when it comes to safety principles.
"The best snorkel for freediving is one with a purge" yes. Wait? I mean WTF no! For all of those wondering about this comment. Snorkel with purges often have deph limits, also the are very stiff. Therefore they increase underwater resistance. And one rule of freesiving: if drag can be reduced, reduce it so your oxigen will be depleted slower. Exacly for this reason there are *freediving* snorkels, they are sicnifficantly more flexible so they have less drag underwater. But no worries they are stiff enough to comfortably breath trough them.
Koh Tao .. cradle of cheap diving... and bad habits after this video :X it was about about basic snorkeling and funny combination of weightbelt and some snorkeling vest. Dont forget log your snorkeling day :D Freediving is something completely different ... different type of mask, fins and habits - remove snorkel from your mouth if you dont want to die. And you should know much more!
This video should be titled, "Snorkeling Basics". There is some good information here but some unclear statements and poor practice demonstrated. You should also acknowledge the filming location. Thanks
This is freediving as I was introduced to it. Before that, I'd worn shorter fins and stayed mainly on the surface. When I met some people into freediving and spearfishing, I started spending more time underwater with fibreglass fins. I think you'll find deep freediving videos on youtube too, if that's what you're looking for. Also, just thinking about it a bit more, you need way more upper body strength to freedive snorkel than cheapo mask on the beach snorkel. I started training again a couple of months ago and at first it was hard to keep myself underwater for more than a few meters in the pool. Now I've got some muscle back and can stay submerged right up against the tiles a lot longer. The local is Koh Tao. I went there in 2018. Amazing location for both underwater stuff and drawing (dramatic boulders). The sea bed is relatively deep next to the island and there are plenty of tropical fish and some coral. Definitely one of the best dive sites on Earth. Lol, you know you're freediving when you go on a snorkelling excursion and see other people snorkeling.
@@themichelleegan not everybody does, i sink like a rock. without any wetsuit or PDF i can fill my lungs to the max with air and i sink to the bottom. i can sit on the bottom just like that without any lead weights.
Thank you, being a yoga teacher I've always been fascinated by free diving, so I'll be investigating your videos more. Thanks for sharing your insight with us.
Scuba-diver when they forgot their bottle. Jump like scuba, move 100% like scuba, dont remove snorkel, exhale underwater, scuba fins, scuba mask and 10:45 LOL
Have you see those diving underwater in the video with.out breathing apparatus? That is freediving. That is only the basic of freediving. Snorkeling is just on the surface and not diving. The basic of freediving includes snorkeling.😊
why are all of the participants using scuba gear and not freediving gear? also this is snorkeling not dreediving alot was wrong youre not supposed to dive with your snorkel in your mouth and a purge snorkel is not what you want a standard J tube snorkel is best so you wont choke and can easily purge it.also those were scuba and snorkel fins
And you also forgot to mention the fact that you don't always have to use defogger solution, that you can also use your saliva, which works very well. I'd like to know who has taught you these things, I mean are you even certified??? Lol
Um, you are wrong, you aren't supposed to stick the mask up to your face and then suck in......you are supposed to press the mask firmly against your face, and if it's the correct fit, then the mask should stay stuck against your face! At least this is what I was taught when I got my Scuba Diving Certification, which I was/am certified by SSI "Scuba Schools International", I was certified back in 1986.
I’m not the best swimmer. I’ve never been diving. I’m absolutely awkward in the water...but something tells me this video was NOT about, “free diving.” 😒
