The creation of this country was a higher plain of thinking regarding the individual. It was a new concept that gave value to many who had only known serfdom. The fact that God had bestowed value on each individual who is fearfully and wonderfully made was made manifest. It was this promise and hope that inspired farmers to feel justified to bear arms against unjust rule. Yes it was a rebellion, but in a sense a vindication that God's law was higher than man's. God bless those who were given the vision of a new world and dedicated their fortunes, their lives and their sacred honor to it, and those who continue to do so today.
Australia should have based it's laws on the American Constitution but it's based on British Law. we have no Amendments hence n right to bear arms. It's a little known fact but Australian Parliament quite a few years ago passed a law in the wee small hours just before Parliament finished for the year, banning& preaching of Bible, that law can be enforced at any time.
37South they did that a few years back after the Port Arthur massacre. All about, semi auto & other categories were confiscated or handed in with an Amnisty. We just had another Gun Amnisty. I only get away with carrying a knife in public because I'm a tradesman who has a use for it. I cannot "legally" carry one if I'm not at work. Anything intended to be used as a weapon is illegal. Looking at applying for my gun license but there is a lot of restrictions around it. I have a bow that I made, has a 60-70lb draw, but I would like a hunting rifle.
