One of the best songs I’ve ever heard. This is songwriting right here! You can play it round a campfire on an acoustic or in an auditorium. I’ll say it again THIS is songwriting!!
Tarantino's choice of music was on point and it's a hommage to the older westerns where some big names of the day used to sing themes and songs in the film
Lot of people would disagree but I thought Django Unchained was Tarantino's best film, the soundtrack was beautiful, the acting out of Waltz, Dicaprio, Jackson some of the best acting I ever seen, Waltz hands down deserved that Oscar, Dicaprio should play the bad guy more often cuz he nailed his part, what a film!
I think you will find only a handfull disagree with you. You’re spot on, it is on all accounts one of the best movies period, Tarentinos or othetwise. But of course it is his hand that made this movie what it is, including the humor, e.g. the way the group of slaves turn their heads towards their old master on the ground, little intricate details and movements like these which make this movie into the piece of art that it is, and it has the Tarentino signature all over it.
This hasn't happened to me in YEARS. But i just randomly burst out into tears over how beautiful this song is. And not in even in that "one single tear rolling down" way, i mean i legit burst out crying
Felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders… Pressure to break or retreat at every turn Facing the fear that the truth had discovered …No telling how all this will work out …But I’ve gone too far to go back now. …I am looking for freedom, looking for freedom… And to find it cost me everything I have… Well I am looking for freedom, looking for freedom …And to find it may take everything I have.
i cant even...this song was great in the movie. but as a standalone song too it exudes the exact same power that it did alongside tarantinos visuals. even if you had never seen the movie, you can really feel the emotion that anthony and elayna put into this record...and THAT is something special.
Did somebody else hear it differently? I mean in "should I brake or retreat and then return" I hear-pressure to brake or retreat and then return :D let me know cause I am just curious how is my english understanding going :)
This song fits perfectly to the theme of Django, Quentin and the musical direction got the song spot on. I really thoroughly enjoyed the film. It was interesting how Quentin took on such a theme which is rarely talked about, Not many directors have the guts to tackle such a theme.
and Anthony Hamilton's voice has that grit and pain in it that adds perfectly to the beautiful sounds from Ms.Boynton. Just a great combination of voices for this fantastic song.
This song makes me feel a genuine connection to my ancestors who only wanted freedom that fought tooth and nail to get to freedom you can feel that emotion carrying through its beautiful
Yes! So true. As a white male i feel the emotion, carrying exactly that what you express, and i cringe when anyother covers rhis song who doesn’t have that connection. Not appropriation, just the depth missing, and the depth of feeling creates this powerful moment that crushes and lifts your soul simultanuously!!
Love Lyrics: "Freedom" "Felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders… Pressure to break or retreat at every turn; Facing the fear that the truth I discovered; No telling how all this will work out; But I've come too far to go back now. ~I am looking for freedom, Looking for freedom… And to find it cost me everything I have. Well I am looking for freedom, Looking for freedom... And to find it may take everything I have! I know all too well it don’t come easy; The chains of the world they seem to move in tight; I try to walk around it, But stumbling’s so familiar; Try to get up but the doubt is so strong; There’s gotta be a wind in my bones... I'm looking for freedom, Looking for freedom; And to find it, cost me everything I have. Well I’m looking for freedom, I’m looking for freedom... And to find it may take everything I have! Oh Not giving up has always been hard, So hard... But if I do the things the easy way I won’t get far. Hmm, life hasn't been very kind to me lately, Well, But I suppose it’s a push for moving on, Oh yeah; In time the sun’s gonna shine on me nicely, One day yeah, Something tells me good things are coming and I ain't gonna not believe. I'm looking for freedom, Looking for freedom; And to find it, cost me everything I have. Well I’m looking for freedom, I’m looking for freedom... And to find it may take everything I have!"
I met Anthony Hamilton at a bar having no idea who he was. But he was so humble and just seemed like an all around great guy. Once I found out who he was I freaked out and realized he was part of this masterpiece. Really good guy!
I absolutely love to find new artists and when I heard this song in the movie I couldn't wait to hear more from Elayna Boynton and I haven't been disappointed!!!!
Kerri Washington did such an amazing job with this scene. When she screams out... If you didn't feel that pierce the darkest part of your soul with actual pain and sorrow, you simply don't have one.
struggling hard in my life at the moment both mentally and financially but i know one day ill make it to where i truely belong.......this song helps me believe

Great song, a couple of days ago I watched this movie for the second time...the scene where they whip Broomhilda is so memorable...and thinking that stuff like that happened for real, for years, is scary...
Things in life we had to go through as an amazing race . Just because money our race has been fighting to many years to be treated as equal as everybody.
Categorizing this as a "race" makes you racist. I am an east indian. Our people underwent racial oppression by the Brits. Our people were shipped off to Fiji, America and Australia to work in plantations as slaves. We started off in America at rock bottom - didn't have historically accumulated wealth by our families to back us up. We still kept our heads down against all adversities and worked on the betterment of everybody. Today the east indians are one of the most successful communities in America. Afro americans have been in the states since racism was abolished by Lincoln. Afro americans had a much larger window to develop, assimilate and contribute to society. The key difference here is that, East Indians do not like being categorized as "brown people" and don't play the victim card (most of them). We work on betterment of the country that's hosting us. We understand that there are no free lunches. Behaving like a petuland child yelling "racism" will only get us a short term handicap. Long term development comes with initiative and taking charge of one's life and fighting adversities with self-development. That is real fighting. Your comment romanticizing your "race" is the epitome of playing the victim card instead of working on inculcating assimilation to the general society. "Back lives matter" was utilized to justify looting, anarchy and arson - all for one incident of a police interaction gone wrong! Your "race" has been fighting so long because your "race" does not stand in unison to take charge and develop. It likes to play the victim card and falsely claim that it's "fighting". What the native americans did was fight! What the east indians did as a community was fight - the fight to contribute to the economy! You may think that drugs, ghettos and gang violence stems from racism and lack of opportunities. I think it stems from the lack of initiative to create opportunities and playing the victim card.

Not on Apple Music. Not on Spotify. But when in doubt you know them boys at RU-vid gon have it. As much of a toe tapper as deep poetry that speaks to a search for freedom that I’ve never succeeded in finding… yet.
