@fandal. Well, that is ridiculous. The oppositions job is to criticize bad policy, there are literally jobs that have the name critic in them, lmfao. When the conservatives take power, if they start trying to push terrible policy, I would hope people would exercise their charter right and protest their actions to bring attention to it. That is kind of the point. Lawful protest is good for the people in the sense it allows them a way to be heard while avoiding violence. That is good, right? It also allows the government a measure of how serious a situation is and allows them time to come to the table to discuss ways to correct it. Also good, right? So, what did we see play out?

The question is why the government will meet with pipeline protesters who shut down highways and railroads and understand people burning churches but not people protesting vaccine mandates. If you don’t understand the that all citizens should be treated fairly you are part of the problem.
10 years for mischief. I worked with someone who killed two people drunk driving. He was giving 2 years less a day. He was back on the streets in 9 months with good behavior. This is definitely political persecution.

The truckers' protest was just a peaceful protest. It went on kind of long, but I blame our Prime Minister for that. He could have sat down and had some talks, but he dug his heels in and made it go on longer than it needed to. And yes, I think Tamara Lich is being politically prosecuted. Look in comparison to what Hamas protesters have been getting away with, violent acts. The sooner Justin Trudeau is gone, the better.

Lich's defense is that freedom of expression trumps other rights that demonstrators infringed. This will never fly in court. You have the right to protest, but not everywhere. For example, if you wanted to protest loudly in the street outside my house in the middle of the night, you would get a mischief charge, and most people would find this acceptable. It's disturbing the peace. That kind of demonstration is unlawful and ought to be unlawful. I know that people think they were standing up against authoritarianism, and fair enough, I was supportive of their cause, but not their methods. Well, protesters are often prepared to go to jail for their beliefs. I think 10 years is definitely excessive, because it's basically pinning the whole event on her, and that's unfair. Mischief is what you get charged with when the prosecution has no legitimate grounds with which to charge you. Tamara is definitely a political prisoner. The judge should toss this out of court and chastise the government for wasting the tax payers' money on frivolous charges like this.

There can be little to no doubt that this was a Political Prosecution from the get go, if it was not directly ordered by the Governing Party it was at least brought forward by those who would curry favor with the incumbent Party or as foot soldiers of the incumbent Party and their ideology that which would seem to be more in step with the Stalinist's or some tinpot South American Republic not the liberal Democracy we thought we lived in. The Ottawa Crown Prosecutor's Office will claim when this is over (whatever the Verdict) that they were just doing their duty and following the Law and that this was in the Public Interest but we all know better and should never forget.
