I know, right? I was TWELVE when this game was announced. It's crazy how much time has passed.

Dude I was a freshman in high school when I played the first game. Now I’m finishing my junior year in college and just got around to playing the sequel this week. I don’t care if I’m 30 when FP3 comes out I just hope they keeping making these awesome games 😂

Egbert Levenstone I don't really think so. It's more like Brevon most likely sees him as useless along with the fact that he has no interest in returning to Avalice. I mean the whole purpose of what he was doing was to get off of Avalice in the first place.

+djukor That's because the games you remember, the ones you're nostalgic about (like original sonic trilogy+Knuckles), were created by teams similar to what modern "indie" games function under. This "AAA Gaming" industry is a byproduct of years of success and resources poured into things, creating games that are more like overdone tapestries to look pretty, while modern indie games (and similarly, classic games) don't have the resources to make those kinds of games, and therefore have to focus on making the experience fun and engaging for the player. Now, there are AAA devs that deliver amazing work, like Bethesda's open world settings, but the reality is that Sonic's roots were pretty much the same as what Freedom Planet is now, and it just got too bloated and successful for its own good. I'm not saying this to be all hipsterish and call it mainstream, it's just an observation. It's like Sonic devs have forgotten what made Sonic fun, but Freedom Planet captured it perfectly with similar platforming gameplay and its own vibrant, unique world, story, and combat elements. Here's to hoping Freedom Planet, as a series, retains the love and passion that it started on!

+SonicKick Games take time to develop many games that get announced few months before release have usually bean in development for a few years. And this looks like an above average indie project way more ambitious than FP1. Luckily i am 30 years old so chances are i am not gonna die before i play it.

No, Sonic Team is not handling Sonic Mania. Sonic Mania is being made by a separate team along with Christian Whitehead. So my comment still stands. :P But I do hope Sonic Team doesn't fuck up the next 3D Sonic game. The one with classic and modern Sonic. And about Christian Whitehead working on Freedom Planet 2; doesn't suprise me at all. Looks like GalaxyTrail and Mr. Whitehead are doing all they can to bring some much needed energy to this genre. And I love them for it.

+AllStarKingD They are thinking about a 3DS port but due to its technical limitations and the general clunkiness of the engine(s) Freedom Planet was/were written in it would be quite a difficult port. They are looking into PS4 and Vita ports first.

+AllStarKingD You are severely overestimating the power of the 3DS. Your clunky XP machine is much more powerful than it.

+Chromatrope I always thought the 3DS was about as powerful as a Nintendo 64, or Gamecube(at least in the graphics department). If Shantae can get PC, Wii U, and 3DS versions of the same game with the only real differences being sprite sizes and screen layouts. I don't see why Freedom Planet or Freedom Planet 2 can't do the same thing.

+Enclave Soldier Agreed with you entirely. Sonic abandoned his niche 20 years ago. Judging by the website, they're moving away from the Sonic aesthetic and I'd wager it's because so many people didn't purchase, because it looked like Sonic. Sonic fans are wierd in that they beg for a return to old Sonic, yet when something comes out that nails the gameplay and aesthetic and music of Sonic, they hate it because it's too much like Sonic. Somehow they became attached to him when he was still a mute, with literally 2 facial expressions.

P I K A C H U Well, in truth, it can't really, unless it's a direct sequal, such as Starcraft and Starcraft 2. But the possibility of a thing happening, doesn't mean we want it any less. Eg. I wish I could inherit an amulet that could cause horny women who were magically attracted to me, to appear out of thin air. It's not going to happen but I still wish it would.

Personally, when sonic games were on 3d it usually suck. Hell, even the adventure series weren't that good as many fans say. To me the best last sonic games were the sonic advance series. (good level design, music and multiple characters)

+Arausito Actually, the only Sonic games that I enjoyed were Sonic Colors & Sonic Generations, but still I think Freedom Planet is much better than these games. I would like to see another Sonic like Generations, but only "would like", for Freedom Planet 2 I'm genuinely excited :)
