Awesome video thank you for making this..I would just like to add you do not need to change windows drive letter. If you click drop down menu in free file sync you can choose to use the drive name as path instead of absolute path with drive letter. So as long as your drive name is the same it will find it for you !👍

Thank you for making this comprehensive tutorial for FreeFileSync and also providing bonus tips for backing up the OS using Samsung's solution. Just one question: Once you backup your C Drive (OS) to an external ssd (using the Samsung solution you provided), if you want to update the backup after a few days, maybe 30 days, will it replace the entire backup or will it only backup the things that were changed?

I'm using the usb-a key as an example, some can use it for saving documents (theses and stuff) but most probably will be using an hard-drive (as I show in the start of the video). But only because it's usb-c don't mean it is fast, as it can vary between usb2 all over thunderbolt speeds.
Hi Daniel! Is just inconvenient to set up the first time, after that is has I did in the intro. For home users, and small business a free open source solution looks tempting. Don't get me wrong, AOMEI Backupper looks great, with data recovery, real time sync, and so on.
This seems awfully complicated. I just want to do a Time machine (the backup software included on Mac OS) style automatic file backup on Windows 10. Time machine works by doing one big backup then does smaller backups in the future where it only adds new files and changes made to old files. It doesn't delete files which have been deleted on your computer and it doesn't delete the older versions of those files that have had changes made to them either. I bought an EHD recently but the windows default backup program doesn't work. I am not interested in doing compression backups or disk image clone type backups because I use a hard drive so it would take way too long to do one of those once or twice a month. I have tried hard but I can't find a simple, automatic backup program that works similar to Time machine on Win 10. No wonder so many people resort to doing manual backups or just don't do backups at all. Would it be possible to do something like that with Freefilesync or is it not designed that way?
Well it's not complicated... Did you skip the bigging? 😅 So, this software is is complicated to set up, but once you are done, it is a one click solution adapted to your sync files needs. Do you want to have different versions? It can. Do you want to recover deleted files? It can. Do you want to noy sync invisible files? It can... If it was set up to do it. Now, it won't be able to make you a backup of the windows OS, for those Windows File History is probably better... I don't use it. I'm more like everything on the OS drive isn't important, if I have to reinstall windows now I could do it and not losing anything, because all my data is on other drives. I only have windows and software (that I can download anytime) on the C drive. There's probably an app that you can buy that is a copy of time machine for windows... But as it not on my needs, I don't really look into it. Best of luck!
@@migueldesa0031 I see what you mean now. I am still having trouble with this software though. I've run some tests and tried to backup some folders on my desktop to a destination folder on my external drive but the problem is that it's not backing up the folders themselves, only the contents within those folders. Does this mean that I have to create folders for everything I want to backup or is there something I'm missing here? Or I need to create folders for the main directories such as C: Downloads, C: Pictures and then need to create specific folders on my backup drive for Downloads, Pictures but it will still sync the folders within those main folders?
