For me, Libre sensor-Blucon Nightrider combo works best. So convenient and powerful tool that updates me about my BG levels on my phone or watch with out-of-range alarms. Best CGM ever tried!

My 6 year old uses the Dexcom and loves it. We are having problems with the insurance company claiming that it’s not essential so they aren’t covering much of the cost. I’ve heard that there is a new Freestyle coming out soon that’s very similar to the Dexcom. Hopefully it will be a more affordable option. We will keep the Dexcom if we have to but it would be nice to get something cheaper that’s just as good

You should set an alert schedule for night time. I go to Uni as well and didn’t want to be beeped at during lectures but needed my nighttime alerts so I set the schedule to always sound for lows at night and left the high and low alerts to vibrate during the day. That feature is great.

I use the Dexcom G6...but in terms of calibrating I have heard you should only cal when you are flat and not too high or too low. But calibrating is really optional...I rarely feel I need to calibrate.

I have the libre 2 I like it but I wanna switch to dexcom next year, hopefully I will!

I tried Dexcom initially, for 6 months but the cost was very high. It worked well no doubt it's a CGM device but I could not afford it economically. Later after a month I switched to Libre sensor and have been using it for past 1 year but this is Flash Glucose Monitoring device. I wanted to buy CGM device, which could work with my Freestyle libre sensor, to get automatic readings and alarms on phone. I tried my girl friend's Blucon Nightrider. The purpose of switching from dexcom to libre was the cost and what I found, cost of libre + blucon is still less then dexcom and my another purpose of getting alarm is also accomplished.

Found out the freestyle libre won't work for me so I'm waiting for the dexcom g6

Sensors may cost a lot regardless of what kind it is, but if thinking about it in the long aspect, it still saves money for everyone involved to actually have some kind of sensor as it makes it easier for people to monitor their diabetes and hopefully stay in range more, which in the long run may lessen the risk of long term complications that would cost a whole lot more both in money and pain to deal with, than a CGM or flash monitor. Technology isn’t a magic cure of course, nor will it ever fully prevent complications, but it can most definitely be a tool to lessen the risk of complications and that in itself is a huge win both for the individual, their family and whoever pays for the devices and medical care the person needs. Here in Sweden healthcare is universal and mostly funded by taxes, and I’m more than happy to pay my taxes as it means diabetics around the country get free insulin and supplies to manage their condition, and knowing that the hospital is there and won’t force you to sell your home if you get sick, because you will never end up with huge hospital bills here. I just do wish that more people with diabetes here would get pumps and CGM, it can be a bit of a wait and you need to meet certain criteria from what I know, so it can be a bit tricky for people to actually get the technological aid that is out there. Oh, and one trick I do to make things stick to me better (I wear a pain patch) is to shower and let my skin dry for a few hours before I put on a new patch, skin is a bit less oily if having showered shortly before trying to apply anything with adhesive on it, and of course no lotions and especially not anywhere near where you’re planning on putting a site. If the newly showered approach isn’t enough, then definitely look into trying skin-tac on the skin where the adhesive will be and just leave a little naked skin where the needle/sensor goes in. There’s a chance you could even get skin-tac covered by insurance if your doctor states that you need it

I found that if I get into the habit of ignoring the alarms at night or sleeping right through it that if I change my sound to something different I will become more aware that the alarm is going off.
