I love when AA gets on his freestyle preaching talks and his face goes stone cold serious. He's not kidding around when he talks about coconut wheelies.
Rodney Mullen’s ability to transfer freestyle tricks to street skating made him a legend. Andy can do everything equally well, throw him on a half pipe he’s Tony friggin Hawk, drop him in a bowl he’s Hosoi, and when he hits ledges and rails he channels Mullen in a way no skaters out here today can. He’s got vision.
Great comparison of all the elements and other skaters that influenced Andy plus he has a very extensive knowledge of skateboarding I love skateboarding just a different type than Andy and it’s so weird what a huge difference it is when your influences are totally different but it’s still all skating at the end of the day.
I absolutely love this. Love all of his ability to knowledge drop while he's doing shit. So focused man. I grew up a Mullen fan, Harrison, Welinder and among others. So I really appreciate this
Andy's killing on his new freestyle board. Also your commentary is great btw I like how you skate and hearing the way talk about others skating actually breaks down skating better than tutorials. as someone going into their second year of consistently skating your commentary on these gnarly skaters has definetly helped break down some concepts that I struggle with and for some reason most people can't explain. That Chris Haslam video even I learned alot. I don't even remember what video I was watching but like you talking over clips broke down 5050s enough that l walked out of my room grabbed a 2x4 and immediately learned how to Ollie into it properly and lock in.
I love that AA treats all tricks as interesting and worthy. A lot of skaters only want to do flip tricks, or certain styles. Andy wants to learn every trick and style. He's so versatile.
watching andy "mess around". is more exciting to me than any major competition. a true skate prodigy. obviously a very intelligent young man. would be epic to see him meet up and chat or skate with the God of skating Mr Mullen.
I think we are ready to see an Andy meets Rodney vid or at least a breakdown of one of his parts to explain what we are seeing. Love it all! Keep em coming Dan!
Dude that is fing awesome! Freestyle was always a mystery and I learned soooo much just in that 13 minutes. He should totally write a book or create a youtube channel on the history of freestyle and how to's. Keep it alive! It's still cool.
Dan, I like your talking in your videos. The best thing you can do for your content is bring your own personality and let it shine through. Keep up the good work.
Andy is the real champ guys a box of knowledge its amazing to watch how his brain works i used to be like this in high school dont know how he finds the passion to keep going
I loved watching this. Back in the Future Primitive/ animal chin days the freestyle breaks were always great to watch. Now with AA and RM they’re blended at all times.
I have been riding Powell Peralta since 1979! Skated with Per Welinder and Rodney Mullen back in the 80s in Sweden even with Lillis! :) I think Andy knows Lillis and even knows Yo Yo I guess the frestyle world is pretty small!! LOL Great video Dan! Keep skating!
History of the impossible (created by Rodney Mullen) 1982: the original impossible: stationary tailstop flip by grabbing the board and lifting it up and across your back foot. 1984: half-cab impossible (slightly roll hook your foot under the board as you begin go into tail-stop then lift the board around your foot. 1986: rolling impossible (roll at a comfortable speed slide your foot off and make sure it’s under the nose of the board(which is now the kick tail) and lift across your back foot. (There you go the full history of the original impossible variations)
I use ol combos cause they do cover the axle nut I know exactly what your talking about..used to be pig wheels and bullets covered that's some the reason why I skated em...but now days the OJ combo 56mm is what I'm about
Oooh yeeaaah Andy should do his own wheels since’s he is unsatisfied with the wheels market start experimenting with formulas and such just he did with his board shape 😜🤙
I thought Kevin Harris was Andy's mentor and hero but he rides Per's board from 1982. I can't wait for Andy's freestyle deck: 7 ply, same graphics, half the size, 3x the price. PP - this one's got an orange colorway so it's $396.99 and it's "coming soon".
I feel like Andy is primed to be the next Tony Hawk. The only thing I havent seen him do is bomb hills, literally everything else hes just seemingly an expert.
