Very happy to say that my product model flag arrived and it is miles better than the pre production flags I received, i would happily suggest the product to anyone now.

Have they added a second hinge / locking point Thomas? All the images on their website still show only one.
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography 8 месяцев назад
@CamAttreePhoto no it only has the 1, same as the Tilta mattebox, both of which rattle if shaken hard enough or in bad wind. But the replacement flag I received had a much better hinge/arm to it and was far more secure than the preproduction copy I received for review

Thanks for the quick reply!@@ThomasBusbyPhotography Ok cool, I guess nothing a bit of gaff tape or blu-tac couldn't fix if it's really windy I guess. Cheers, mate.

@CamAttreePhoto it’s screw on so also comes off very easily when needed, in real windy situations I just remove it and pop it in the laptop sleeve of my camera bag

I wish this box existed before spending more than price of this thing on separate filters.

Thanks for the detailed review and for sharing your opinion. I have been looking for a matte box, and I rate yours as the top of all the ones I have seen in the last few days. I have used screw-on filters for the last few years and am done with them! Some never come apart, even if it's an expensive one. And I am ready to look cool using my camera with a matte box, too, lol. Merry Christmas.

Hahaha, I have been using this a lot, and now my only complaint it the flag rattles a little in the wind, but I feel this is offset but how easy it is to remove the flag if required, and pop back on for transport or when needed etc

Can I use this with my canon RF 24-105 zoom lens? - I really need this for a difficult outdoor shot, however the shot requires me to zoom whilst shooting, and I'm not sure I have the budget for an expensive zoom-lens that doesn't extend.
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography 3 месяца назад
Absolutely you can, it just attaches like a normal filter. Just make sure you can the right adapter for whatever lens you plan to use it with (many come in the box but only the most popular) it would be worth while buying extra adapters with it for each lens you’d like to use it with.

Can the gradual filter reach, say bottom third of the image if my horizon is lower than middle in the frame?

Nice review. They got IR-ND option, but it's hard to guess if it's possible to mount more than 1 ND filter at the same time. I've also seen this one does not vignette even on 16mm.

Can we adjust polarizer to desired point and then insert ND and adjsut it Using Dail ?? Will that change the previously set Polarization ?? Can you PLEASE explain, my question is " what if i wana shoot a car under harsh sun , how to get polarization with ND ??
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography 3 месяца назад
I just tested this just for you. If you use the polariser on the dial it works as expected. When you add the variable ND, its amount of density is based on where the polariser is set to. So you CANNOT use the dial for polarising AND variable ND, just one or the other.
@NihalUsman
@NihalUsman 3 месяца назад
@@ThomasBusbyPhotography big thanks for testing it for me , so , first we set polarization, and then we insert ND and adjust density, mechanically that manual dail will get on to ND when we insert it and this will never change polarization from set level , am i correct ????
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography 3 месяца назад
@NihalUsman no. Once you insert the ND and start changing the dial. The amount of density has changed by rotating the polariser. The ND doesn’t rotate, the polariser does, which when combined with the ND makes it into a VND. Just to be clear, you can NOT use this system as a polariser AND a VND. Just one or the other, but if you only want to use one, the dial makes changing the polarisers position OR the VND density very easy.

Sorry, I didn´t quite get it from the video. Is this part of the same system that you can use without the mattebox?
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography Месяц назад
Mostly no. You can still fit some screw on filters in behind the mattebox, but the magnetic ones that are designed to go on the front of the mattebox are not the same as the without mattebox options. These are much thinner
@ManuelParodiRamos
@ManuelParodiRamos Месяц назад
@@ThomasBusbyPhotography I see. I’m interested on a magnetic ND system that can be used with and without mattebox. One will eventualky show up! Thanks for the video and for answering!
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography Месяц назад
@ManuelParodiRamos yeah I have both and like them each for different situations. What I think would be hard to find a two in one option is none mattebox filters you need to buy in different sizes for different lenses, where as a mattebox system works on every lens. And screw on vnd filters are a pain to use with lens hoods, and I really like some form of protection on the front of my lenses

The sound was as good as the visuals! What mic did you use? The audio was so tangible I could feel it.

A senheiser shotgun mic into a zoom 32bit recorder. And thank you for saying so! I was worried RU-vid might crush it

Nice overview. One question I have - Do the magnetic drop-in filters attach to the matte box or the lens ring? eg. Will they stay with the matte box as I move it from lens to lens? Thanks for your help.
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography Год назад
I can 100% confirm that the mattebox is what the mag filters attach to, and shift with. Not the adapter ring.

Looks exactly like what I was searching for. Is there any vignetting with the VND (wider lenses) ?
@ThomasBusbyPhotography
@ThomasBusbyPhotography Год назад
I didn’t do any measurable vignetting tests sorry, but at 12mm on apsc I had none that i ever noticed or cause my concern. And I have a friend who’s been using it at 16mm full frame for real estate and loving it.
