I just porches the Panasonic 14-28 mm I have kasa magnetic filters and I have noticed that if i put more then one filter then I start see the edges og the filters in the frame in 14 mm. So how is it with this system? I saw that you used this lens in this movie...
nice review. being new in VND and not interested with graduated rectangular filters, I find that 82mm design really huge for sony 35mm F1.8 55mm, 85mm F1.8 67mm 50mm F1.2 72mm lens... Moreover I am afraid it is difficult to extract the filters from small cutout on top of the base (worst case is with gloves). is quality really better than previous version ? any tuto on previous version ?
@@TheHybridShooterThere is a previous system called the “freewell magnetic quick swap” and i am in the same boat as the above comment. i would love to see a comparison of these two systems as the previous has most of the same features for half the size, less weight and cost.
@@carsonlayden5222 That is not a previous version, it is a different product line with different (less) features. The main difference is the slot for square filters, so you just need to decide whether you need that.
Not really, I had no idea that it weighs 300g, it didn’t fell heavy at all during my testing. The size is more noticeable, but necessary if you want that kind of versatility.
it is a pitty not to have stronger nd + cpl. cause I know i'd like to shoot more than nd 32 + soft gnd to get really smooth water (long exposure). I guess you can do it with their nd 1000 + soft gnd (even though 1000 isn't always enough if you want to close at f11 max) but then you can't have cpl....
If you can think of a way to make a system such as this one compatible with a lens hood, I am sure that a lot of companies will be willing to pay you a lot of money for that idea...
@@sumimiasen A lens hood/matte box barn doors are made to shade light and eliminate glaring/flaring on the glass, which lowers the contrast of the image. Sometimes you may want to catch the flare as a creative choice, but this has to be controlled. ND filters are made to reduce the amount of light that reaches the sensor (like sunglasses), so you can access different shutter speed/shutter angle settings and still get proper exposure. 2 very different things for 2 very different purposes.
Unless the 1-5 and 6-9 VNDs are made to accept other magnetic filters in front of them, they ''could'' have made them with filter threads on the front just like regular stackable filters, so we can screw on a cheap collapsible rubber hood.. but they would've had to come out with a custom one with proper size since I believe these filters are unique in size... plus, the magnets are probably not strong enough to support the weight of the rubber hood. Still, I can't deny that replacing a true matte box with a VND system that has a matte-box like filter solution but doesn't allow any sort of sunhood system to be used is a bit of a non-sense (now K2 users need to choose between filters or a sunhood... it's kinda solving a problem by inevitably bringing another one on the table). The NiSi True Color doesn't have front filter threads either, most likely for the same reason(s). I hesitated between the two, but I ordered the K2. Still hope we'll find some sort of solution though.
