thanks man 😎 ahhh! yeah, play around with it and get to know it and then complete it with some filters when ur ready. they defo take things to the next level!
Thanks for your video! I'm a Saxophone player and want to record my home videos and wedding gigs (which are often in bright daylight) with the Pocket 3 (waiting for it to be delivered). I was wondering one thing: if i leave it in auto-mode will it be able to handle the bright daylight without an ND Filter? Or is it only capable of reducing the light to a certain ISO and could potentially still be overblown with light? I'm trying to understand if the sole purpose of the ND Filters is to be able to achieve a cinematic look by being able to lower the shutter speed. I think i probably wont need a cinematic look when im strolling around playing on a wedding reception. But if you say the Pocket 3 cannot handle certain daylight without an nd filter then I will definitely need to order some.
thanks, glad u liked it 😎 sooo, if ur planning on shooting mainly in auto mode I’ll be honest u don’t really need the ND filters, it does a really good job in auto mode, in fact most of my videos are shot in auto mode. all I would say is sometimes things do look at bit over exposed especially when the sky is white ect, so u may need to bring the EV down slightly which normally helps me
@@james.loxton you were totally right. i tried it out yesterday, the auto mode works perfectly fine. sometimes it's slightly overexposed. To counter that I will probably need to limit the ISO Range from 50-6400 to a lower value, right?
no problem 😎 the actual filters don’t change the FOV and unfortunately the wide angle lens doesn’t attach onto them as the magnets keep pushing them away so u can’t stack it onto them BUT one thing I have found is u can attach the wide angle lens vertically instead but it adds a slight vignetting round the edges tho so u would need to play around with it to see if it’s usable for u or not
@@james.loxton I have but have been hesitant ordering straight from Freewell (dunno why, I just like ordering from familiar sources), been waiting for BH, Adorama, etc to have them in stock, but finally caved today and ordered straight from Freewell. 👍
Hi, thanks for sharing this interesting video. I'd like to ask you a question. I recently got the Pocket 3 and today I received the FREEWELL ND8/PL filter. It's sad to say that the gimbal no longer folds. He is unable to make a normal turn to close, but the camera remains on its side and no longer protected. Why please? Thank you.
no problem 😎 yeah so, when u have a filter on the lens the gimbal detects that and doesn’t turn it in like it normally would do cos it wouldn’t be able to cos the filter would block it. u can still put it inside the hard case with a filter on and the camera is protected it just leans against the soft side bit of the case
Can i use/stack them with the dji wide angle lens? Since I also see @FreewellGear replying I add this question: Will Freewell make their own wide angle lenses?
the DJI wide angle lens doesn’t attach to any of the filters unfortunately as the magnets from the filters keep pushing it away BUT u can attach it vertically instead which still gives u a wider shot but it does give u some vignetting around the corners
I haven't understood: Can you use the mist filter, TOGETHER with an ND filter? If not, then you CANNOT use the mist filter, in bright light conditions (because the 180 shutter speed rule will not apply).
pocket 3 has iso 50, what an achievement. but be mindful that most filter will not allow you to return to zero, as most are too thick, so rather dji has made filters unfriendly.
James, do you know, does the Freewell CPL filter stack with the Freewell stand alone ND filters (like ND16, 32 etc.)? I've read that they do, but it look slike th CPL filter has just 'edge' magnets, while the ND filters have full 360 magnets, so I want to check if they will work together or not.
hey, so I’ve just checked for u and yeah unfortunately the cpl doesn’t stack on top of the normal ND filters because of how the magnets are positioned. BUT it does stick on at a slant (which I wouldn’t recommend doing whilst moving with it cos it may fall off) and u can kind of see it around the edges which u could eliminate by cropping in slightly but obviously not ideal
@@james.loxton Cheers mate. Appreciate you taking the time to answer. That's a shame. But I'll go with the Neewer set then. At least I'll save a bunch of cash! 😁
Have a question, I know the freewell 14 pk comes with a snow mist filter, but no black mist filter. Do you know if either the DJI black mist will stack with the freewell ND filters, or if any of the aftermarket black mist like the Skyreat Black Mist Filter will stack and stick to the Freewell ND filters? Thank you in advance for any insight you might have.
Filters are not stackable At least the set I got. I purchased this and nd does not stack with mist I had DJI mist filter that one worked. I paid 149 for all the nd filters but can’t stack the mist filter, sucks
hmmm! that’s strange cos they are definitely stackable. are u putting them on the correct way? as in, is the magnet the right way round so it’s not pushing it away?
@@james.loxton yea I’ve flipped them a few times just to make sure. It’s odd the only one that it works with is the nd256. Everything else I gotta use DJI mist
Here’s the response I got back from them. Thanks for your message. The filter's original design was never intended to be stackable, as you can see on our product page. We haven't highlighted this anywhere on our product. As you know, users always like to experiment with the thing, but do remember all the gimbal do have weight limits, so putting any stress on it might damage the gimbal as even DJI, who makes the ND filter for them, doesn't recommend stacking anywhere. Let us know if anything else I can help you with. Thanks Kit
the pocket 3 recognises there’s a filter still attached to it when u turn it off with one still on and it doesn’t try and swing the head inwards like it normally would, instead it faces it downwards (towards the wide angle lens)
Hey mate, great vid as per usual. 👍 Unfortunately I've ordered a different brand of nd filters hopefully arriving next week. 😬 Hopefully there as good as the freewell. Now that you have had the pocket 3 for a while, are you enjoying it even more? Have you had any issues with it?
thanks man 😎 ahh yeah fingers crossed they are… soo, it’s by far my fav camera atm, I find myself always gravitating towards filming with it even when I plan to use my a7iii 😂 so far I haven’t had any major issues with it tbh, there’s a couple of things that are slightly annoying but nothing major major… what about u? how are u finding it?
@james.loxton I absolutely love it! Just the ease of use for beginners (like me! 😁) I think is fantastic! I just can't wait to get to Thailand and give it a good workout! When using nd filters I should have the EV set to about 0.0 to -0.2?
