Hi folks!
I am once again overnighting solo, under my DD Hammocks 3m x 3m tarp. The looped trail I followed winds its way around the picturesque Matildanjärvi Lake, located within Teijo National Park, SW Finland. I hiked in and camped overnight, and completed a circuit of the lake the following day.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous and the sunshine and blue skies showed off the late winter beauty of the lake and its surroundings. Finland's nature is truly magical!
I hiked anti-clockwise around the lake to the north shore and arrived at a small island where I set up my tarp in a tetra-pyramid configuration, supported by a ridgeline. This was a roomy configuration, which allowed me to open an awning for easier access during the daylight hours.
On my last visit to Matildanjärvi Lake, I had forgotten my ice spikes and decided to cut short my trip because the trail was so slippery. This time I brought them, and managed to complete the loop, although rather than staying on the shore and returning to the car via the village, I took advantage of the thick ice to cross over the lake via Isoholma Island and return to the southern shore. Isoholma island proved to be not only beautiful but also an ideal camping spot for future adventures.
I am a newbie to hiking and camping and learning as I go.
Come along with me on my adventures!
