Most brokers never try to establish a relationship with a carrier. They'll usually work with the cheapest carrier from load to load. They never offer to find a reload to bring a truck back or even ask where you like to run etc...

This is true but YOU have to push for that relationship. Always keep track of the brokers that treated you right, made you feel good and maybe went out of the way for you in some way. Always call them back when you are in their area and eventually they will have a relationship. The bottom line, the broker needs to move his freight, how great would it be if he/she had a carrier that was always available.

Funny you chose wisconsin cheese as an example - Most Wisco cheese distributors aren’t even from Wisconsin. I have hauled many cheese loads to Wisco from California and New Mexico/Texas.

What about the time it takes? The broker has nothing but time to make phone calls, find drivers etc. but if you driving, you’re not doing that, when you’re stopped, you want to be resting. What you’re saying is like asking, why doesn’t walmart ship their own products? Because it cost less and more time efficient to let FedEx do it for them. I don’t know, just my thoughts. Maybe you don’t mind, pulling over to put in more work. I’m just curious in the field, let me know, how you’d make this work for you, doing everything yourself. I’m just trying to learn

It's a hard business to stay in. When you're too good, all the monoliths try to buy you or force you out. Lots of drama in the freight brokering community. But no different anywhere you go, before my dad quit he was making 30,000 a month on average. Just signed a 2million dollar heavy haul that fell thru for personal reasons. Regardless, I am thinking of pursuing Freight Brokering. Figured I could do some truck driving for a bit

Thanks for your help my brother I'm tired of driving for folks I need to start doing everything and becoming a one-man show like you I met a guy in Memphis he was an ex-nucklehead a white gentleman from Baltimore that came to Memphis and went to prison for making that wrong choice now back in 2014 he on his own beautiful cabover truck with his shop and his office all at the same place with an Upstairs Downstairs which he converted as the upstairs was his home he has another Warehouse or Rents It Anyway and what he does is broker Lowe's between drivers and as well as for himself he also owns his own gas powered forklift!!.. I told him I was so proud of him...Amen too you both...appreciate the information!!👍😇🙏😊
