I just got out of a newer Frieghtliner, and it was so dang annoying with all its new safety features that it would scream at me that someone was next to me when no one was. It took forever to get going and never seemed to want to back without throwing me out of the driver seat. I will give them for technology advances to the truck but the older versions were never this bad. So for those reasons and so many more Peterbuilt all the way is so much better than a freightliner

yes I have heard the same from other drivers of the newer Freightliners -it wants to jump in reverse. The "safety" technology is so they can put less qualified, easily distracted, drivers in the seat as well as mitigate for the poor quality of other drivers on the road around the truck. Very sad.

Their pretty much all the same as far as 'safety' features goes....my Kenworth T680 is ridiculous for that....applying the brakes for literally no reason!

Coming from Heavy Haul. At ATS I have paid off 3 trucks and am working on my 4th one. Frankly, there is no contest about which (modern def) truck is better for Heavy Haul, as ATS orders them. 1st... the engine. Cummins and Paccar are plagued with breakdowns and rarely make 500,000 miles without major internal repair. The DD16 is a big lazy motor. Keep your rpms under 1500, do not idle, and you will have little issues with the engine. (also, you will leave the Pete HH trucks crying in your diesel smoke on a grade). The air suspension on the Freightliners have a much longer travel for the airbag dump system. That may seem sorta meaningless in most applications.... but, it is very useful in Heavy Haul. Petes are quieter, better interiors, and the bodies seem to age better. So.... there is that. Fortunately, many drivers would rather sit broke down in a Pete, than drive a Freightliner. So, unless you really demand a Pete... ATS will have no problem getting you into the superior truck.
