you have to admit that after all the seal-clubbing you get to do later game, it is kind of fun to get spanked by the AI once in a while. it is kind of fun to watch having experienced this so many times in so many games.
I'm slightly scared I'm in for that, somehow I've ended up with the worlds 2nd largest navy already in 1915 and despite having that I'm earning so much money I can't even spend it... I'm a bit worried I will just sit there clicking next turn for 30 years....
That was a really fitting french cruiser, as it used a singlet 10" of a high mk2, a perfect choice for high accuracy, also combined with a trained crew, and it had just enough armour on main belt to resist your SAPs. Surely will spice up the campaign beginning as it sometimes happens when AI occasionally gets perfect ships for a job, but the campaign will still remain easy overall.
Something that fascinate me in this early era is how a ship that is the end-all be-all dealer of death in 1907 is hopelessly obsolete in 1910, the early Dreadnought development is insane !
Unfortunately, the admiral ran with the bulls and took a headbutt to the head before with the British. Thankfully, this seems to have inspired him with some... unconventional tactics. Will his newfound crazy tactics still work? Will he design some new masterpiece? Find out today on: French Retreat?! Or Spanish Sinking?!
Man oh man i didn't realize how rough this was going to be and i like the idea of controlling local waters and only when it's good getting more territory other then that great episode my friend
In my experience, AI flees as long as their speed is superior to yours. Doesn't mean they can't turn back towards you if your ships isolate from one another.
Well, considering that your economy can’t handle a bunch of heavier ships, perhaps leaning on CLs for additional firepower would be beneficial. Compared to a CA, relatively cheap, faster, smaller, but lacking in the same raw power. Could still be a good gunboat type ship to accompany your DDs for a time until at least you can replace them with more capable variants.
While you might only have poor engines and hulls for CA currently, build them anyway and then refit them as better tech comes online. It's usually better to have them and not need them , than need them and not have them. Unlocking oil fired boilers is a huge step forward at this stage in the game. Traditionally CL/CA have bad engine/boiler/funnel combinations until the 20s. The gun upgrades for your DDs will make them much more potent. You're right though that the torpedoes are currently a bit lacking, but it will come along sooner or later.
@@Blxz that's true, but it's a lot faster and easier to build them (and potentially mothball them)and refit later rather build them from scratch . They might not be great units, but they'll be good enough until refitted. CAs tend to be my main fleet units throughout any campaign.
You can't refit to a better hull, so why lay down bad ships on bad hulls in hopes that better tech will make a bad hull tolerable at some unknown point in the future when you could just wait until you have decent hulls to use?
@@spudgamer6049 I've had CAs built in 1900 that were still serviceable blockade units through to 1940. Most of them were fairly poor hull types to begin with, but with progressive upgrades they were still lethal against anything their size or smaller, especially when in company with newer types. If I have to then I'll quite happily sacrifice 3-4 old CAs in a fight to kill an AI BB as the VP will really begin to stack up. People tend to try and rush out Billy Badass speedboat ships and they'll get shredded. I build up-gunned tanks, then worry about speed. Gunnery and survivability are my priorities, then speed.
I like this series. its taking you out of your main element. you are good with CAs to BBs, but now you need to learn how to fight with TBs to CLs. much more interesting then just watching you flatten every navy that comes at you.
that being said, i think you need TBs. lightest main gun, no armour, fastest speed, fastest torps, as many torps as you can get. send them in to like 1km out and dump and try to run tactics.
How on Earth have you managed to arm 1.000 ton Destroyers with 5" already in 1910 ?? I can't even do that in 1915 ! Mine are forced to use 3" due to weight restrictions. Granted my Assault destroyers run at 32+ knots.
Hallo Stealth17 Gaming. First of all thank you for all your Videos i really enjoing them, but i don't understand why the Kampagnen Goal is not deafiting britain and the french. They were both the biggest enimies of spain. I wish you a good day and looking forwart to your Videos
He’s not necessarily doing a historical campaign, rather just something slightly different. That being shifting to a democratic government and smacking around the French.
