Sometimes you don't need to read books and spend hours searching . All you need is one person from the place who got the right information from generation to generationThis video went straight to the point of what you need to know, less than 10 minutes he made you understand the whole concept how French in France and Haitan Creole connected. Thanks for the introduction, time and effort. That was great!!! :) :) :)

I learned French in High School, so I don't speak it perfectly, but this is still really cool. Its like in America, someone from Boston who is speaking to someone from Georgia speak the same language, but they have different accents and jargon.

I'm from Guadeloupe and Dominica (Commonwealth of Dominica) and the mothertongue language of these countries is the Creole like Haiti. French people don't understand the creole spoken in the caribbean. But the haitian creole is more easy than the others creoles. In the Guadeloupean Creole we have accents and intonations to respect, this is one of the most difficult Creole.

It is a totally different language. It shares a lot of words with French, but so does English. Obviously Haitians have a lot of their own words that French people wouldn't understand.

French wouldnt understand because they dont have the créole language logic. I'm créole from an other island my créole is close to haitian one and I swear if you really search the étymology of almost each créole word youll find a french roots beside the french that creole got his biggest roots is an old french from the far west of France (Bretagne) so some french words in créole werent used in all France and are not used and understanble anymore in mordern french

That was a good explanation about the difference between the two language. To add to it. Creole Syntax and sentence structure is completely west African. Also the Verb I am in french is very different in Creole. Creole also has some English, Portuguese, and many Yoruba words as well because of the voodoo religion.

I just want to learn grammar. I'm a native but moved to the US when I was six. I really want to better my creole but my creole is very broken and limited; kind of like I have my own language that nobody else speaks. Bummer!

At my apartment complex I have black neighbors who I can hear outside speaking a foreign language. I have listened to it carefully but I don't recognize it at all. Finally when I came across them outside I asked the guy what language it is that they are speaking. He said French. I was amazed. I asked him if he was from Haiti. He said yes. I wonder if the average person in France could understand them. I doubt it.

+yowzephyr No, Haitian creole is basically simplified and unsophisticated French. You can't tell if you speak English, but if you speak French you would know it is a simple language.
@appsource3466
@appsource3466 8 лет назад
+510oaklandca it is not unsophisticated creole is a language that is beautiful in it's simplicity...languages are first and foremost tools of communication not prestige. therefore the more simple a language the better it serves as a means of easy communication. this notion that languages have to have a certain level of complexity to be considered "true languages" is a human social construct. so please don't disrespect my language it's very dear to me.

This is a full display of African story telling. A lot of our stories are passed down and not necessarily written. That is why our history is so easily dismissed. But our story remains in us. I do think we should have more people writing things down for the younger generation.

@metalmachine974
@metalmachine974 8 лет назад
+Jess JayEel yes true it's a Separate Language, He was just explaining the differences between French and Haitian-creole, In fact Haitian-Creole is evolved from French (Which has the main influence in the language), and other African language, I'm a Standard French speaker, so I can describe the Differences in detail for you if you want to
