The ability of British, French, Dutch, Italian, Belgian, Australian, German, Japanese, American, and other Western nations to operate together is priceless. Like the rest of France's military, the Marine Nationale is a top notch organization. La Royale can learn from the US Navy and vice versa. It is a win-win situation for all Western navies to focus on interoperability.

@@eligebrown8998 as De Gaulle said, we always loved USA, but they were not there in 1914 or in 1940. So don't be mad against us if we take independant decisions in times to come
Only usa F18 and french rafale can be launched and land on each orters carriers 🤟(sorry for my english i am french 😉) WE are allies since Lafayette, 1775, indépendance War 🇨🇵🇺🇸👍
Indeed, I was doing an internship at French naval air station Lann Bihoue in Britanny. Rafales came to do simulated carrier approaches on the runway for a few weeks. Everyday, they would come over from their homebases, Landivisiau, do an hour of training and return to their homebase. Altough one day, I was in a building on the base working when I heard that very familiar whistling and thought to myself "They've landed?!". I walked outside and saw like a whole bunch of them passing by one by one on the taxiway and all parked nearby. Got to see them uplclose, was one hell of a surprise.
it's especially the technology that we don't see that is impressive, and especially the records that it still holds since its release!! it is still the only aircraft in the world to reach 11G positive in combat! the Rafale C, for an aircraft weighing less than 10 tonnes (9850 kg) it carries almost 100% of its empty weight in armament (9500 kg), it carries almost 150% of its empty weight in armament and fuel (14650 kg), it makes slow passages at 80 knots or 152 km/h, it can land in a smooth configuration at 100 knots (180 km/h) and it lands on an aircraft carrier at 120 knots! its SPECTRA computer system behaves like a sponge, it receives all the information, makes a summary which it transmits to the pilot, this allows the pilot not to receive too much information and he can concentrate only on piloting and control. success of the mission, and it has two types of stealth, a passive one, certainly much lower than that of an F22 or F35 but it exists, SER of 0.06 m2, and an active stealth, it receives the enemy radar wave on antennas in its wings, SPECTRA analyzes it and sends back the phase-shifted radar wave, this allows the Rafale to erase its radar signature! so far, he has used it very little! for the moment in 2023, it remains undefeated in confrontations with other planes, it is especially the Eurofighter which took dearly, in 2009, 18 fights, 16 to 2 for the Rafale!! the very great qualities of the Rafale are: the solidity of these wings, the reliability of the M88, its SPECTRA system and its incredible maneuverability!! when France and the USA work together, we do wonders, example: the creation of CFM international, between SAFRAN (France) and General Electric (USA) we built the most incredible engine of all time, the CFM 56, the the best-selling airliner engine in the world and the one with the reputation of being the most reliable!! and now we are doing LEAP, another success!!
Absolument (that`s French for absolutely). Can`t wait to see the first prototype for the future Franco-German and I believe Swedish or Dutch combat aircraft. Mind you; will there be a navalised version ? Well, probably not, but maybe.
For the non military here, I can’t emphasize enough the complexity of these operations and the invaluable training for both the carrier crews and ESPECIALLY for the French pilots.
Few people know that USN trains French Navy pilots for carrier ops, CDG sails with US sailors to maintain the steam catapults, and that Rafale had to visit Patuxtent River for ground based catapult during its development and then subsequent weapons integration testing.
It's not so hard for the French pilots, the US and French procedures are identical, the French naval pilots are all trained in the USA and the French aircraft carrier is much smaller. In fact for French pilots it's very easy, on the other hand, to land on the Charles de Gaulle for a Navy pilot with an F/A18 there it's a feat the bridge is much shorter and there are only 2 strand.
@@geraldfranklin8685 It's not that complex. Not anymore than usual anyway. The French systems are identical (on purpose) to our own. They modelled theirs from ours, so there is almost no difference in mechanical or procedure. They even use the same jersey coloring system we do.
Not only the interoperability of NATO members. A lot of ordnance is comparable. Every NATO member Infantry rifle is chambered in 5.56-NATO. All the magazines are the same. Most of the artillery shells can be shared. All aircraft in NATO uses the same air-to-air refueling couplers. That means an American KC-135 refueling plane can gas up every NATO aircraft that needs a drink. There are 2-axle cargo trucks used in NATO. No matter who made the truck, no matter which country, the engines have the exact same measurements. So if I was driving an American cargo truck with a Caterpillar engine. And the piston and valve covers blew up. A German Buffalo recovery vehicle can tow me to a German repair station. Remove the Caterpillar engine and directly replace the broken engine with a German MAN diesel engine. Even the electrical harness wiring is the same. Bad engine out, new engine in PDQ. Same with tires. Got a flat tire? Every NATO member repair facility can swap out tires. Not everything is compatible. But, a lot of things are.
@@Greippi10 two advantages of the refuelling probe sticking out: it frees space inside and unlike deploying probes you’re sure to get a refill, no probe stuck inside for mechanical problems (a big reason why they went for outside refuelling probes since the mirage). On top of that, the probe has been designed in such a way that it doesn’t impact stealth and aerodynamics.
In the late 1990s there was a joint training with tomcats, as the tomcat leader sais : we have been butchered. It probably was medium/short distance fight where rafale is AT its best. This pushed to replace tomcats with superhornets. This is little known. But tomcat remains logically beloved by everybofy. Fully justified@@michaeldoyle2725
I bet they do ! But they do know how to do it, France doesn't have proper training naval aircraft so they train carrier landing... on US carrier with american training jet 😁
A fact many people won’t know is that French naval aviators destined for the Rafale, all undergo basic flight training in France, but report to the US Navy for advanced (carrier) training. France has no advanced trainer aircraft and only one aircraft carrier, which can’t always be operational. The French aviators train in US trainer jets to operate on carriers, and then transition to the Rafale jet. The US and France are the only two countries that use catapults on carriers. Because of this, the catapult designs are the same, the launch and recovery procedures are the same, and the aircraft use the same landing and take-off hardware. US Navy jets also train landing and taking off with the French Charles de Gaulle carrier.
Anything! We don’t have training planes? Who? does not know that the rafale is the best fighter in the world without forgetting the class of mirages. We have a nuclear carrier and three other aeronef carriers. Little yankee shit
@@Scidzcopter What drugs are you on? The US Navy’s been working on the CDG since it was launched. Prior to that, they worked on other carriers too. There are many videos on RU-vid of this.
It's not Rafael but Rafale like a "gust" of wind. the English translation would be "gust" not Rafael. I say that because the Indians operate this plane it's better if you understand its name. झोंका
RAFALE beautiful aircraft . Europe has 3 very excellent aircarft ..............RAFALE , TYPHOON and SAAB GRIPEN . A very nice TRIO . Well done EUROPE . The FRENCH pilots know their stuff . RAFALE a very fine MULTIROLE BIRD .
The second shot was canceled. The nose wheel was damaged and they had to spin around and wait for a part to fix it. They flew it over on a helicopter and we launched it later that night.

It's so easy for French Navy pilots to land on the runways of giant US aircraft carriers. ^^ It is more difficult for US Navy pilots to land on the smaller French aircraft carriers. ^^
The landings are the same lol. The boat is just longer.. they learn on US carriers... before even getting in to the Rafale.. The extra 50m doesn't equate to a harder job landing the aircraft.

France uses 200 naval aeronautics aircraft divided into 15 flotillas and 3 squadrons, or 4000 sailors, anchored in 4 aeronautical bases. France has 4 nuclear ballistic missile submarines, 6 nuclear attack submarines
landing on an American aircraft carrier should not be too hard for French pilots, the deck of their aircraft carrier the Charle de Gaulle is shorter, on the other hand, it must be traumatic for an American pilot to land on the Charle de Gaulle ^^....the Rafale is so cool !
And let us keep praying for our Navy Force that's in service at the moment and I'm not saying that because I'm retired Navy it's just something that needs to be happening. Go US Navy the first line of defense
Hell of a Lot more room on that Deck ,then we had on the Midway .Less chance of a young Airman getting blown into the Cat walk ,on his first cruise like I did,.
It’s so cool seeing allied militaries training and operating together. This I’m sure will be invaluable in the near future as foes like Russia try their hand
Does enyone enlight me how Rafale equipment cooperated with ILS from american carrier, or french pilot only used the "ball" light system in this landing?
Interesting to see that the French pilots don't wipe out the controls before saluting. Wondering if everything is already trimmed out because of the flight control system?
One reason I said that is their own ship the Charles DeGaulle is a lot smaller deck in fact to operate the Hawkeyes length and the deck so they could land
@@fastone942 it was a joke don't worried The Charles de Gaulle is smaller than the American aircraft carriers but the Rafale is a small jet and it matches very well with our aircraft carrier In France we do not have the budget of the US Navy big planes and boats are too expencive
Weight of aircraft. See the glass bubble sticking up out of the deck... the guy down in the bubble adjusts steam pressure of the cat based on weight of the aircraft. The nose gear would potentially be ripped out of the airframe if pressure were not adjusted. CVN-71, 2/87- 12/90
Great looking jet. Something about that really short nose and of course the the fuel probe that doesn't retract kind of turns me off. It probably out dogfights the f18 but not is good looking as the f18.
Years ago, there's slightly differences, like the "Go" signal was different. On US Aircraft carrier, the Yellow guys (alco called "shooter") are crouching while doing the Go Signal. On Charles-de-Gaulle french aircraft carrier, the Yellow guys are standing up while doing the Go Signal. You should check some Charles-de-Gaulle french aircraft carrier videos. Nowadays, I read that the French Navy personnels are starting/using the same signals as US Navy because of interoperability between both Navys. Also, I read too that British Navy personnels are using US signals because they are using US and UK F-35B on their own aircrafts carriers.
Non, there's no diffence (least according to the US NAVY, i think we have the same hand signals, besides, the US NAVY is the only army who can land on our carrier without causing a diplomatic incident.
