It's amazing how 'compact' the Rafale is. It seems quite a lot shorter than the (Eurofighter)Typhoon. It's amazing what they can squeeze under the bonnet (hood) of such a dinky airframe. Excellent French engineering, and that's coming from me, a Brit! (it's normally against our DNA to agree with the French about absolutely everything!).
Thank you very much ! Our (mostly common) DNA has sadly prevented us to do amazing things together. I've always believed that when France and UK dare to work together, especially in military engineering field, we are unbeatable. We tried to launch some bilateral cooperation with the Lancaster house agreement. But then Brexit happened.... Comments like yours makes me believe there is still hope. Best wishes for you and Uk, may 2023 be the year of common sense 🙏🏻
The size and weight from the Rafale was voluntary limited to make it capable to use the small french carrier (first the Foch, then the Charles de Gaulle) , the Eurofighter Typhoon is impossible to made in navy version because the navy landing gears are much bigger and did not fit in the Eurofighter body, and the EF fuselage is not strong enough...
It's so easy for French Navy pilots to land on the runways of giant US aircraft carriers. ^^ It is more difficult for US Navy pilots to land on the smaller French aircraft carriers. ^^
(ancien mecaéro du PA Clémenceau 1967/1970) ----- Superb images of our rafales in US land. (former mecaero of PA Clemenceau 1967/1970)
Rafale is indeed very compact (as many comments noticed), it's a 10 T (22,000 Lb) plane when empty, with a max of 5 T of petrol and 10 T of amunitions...
@@Aeronaut1975 yes i confirm thé rafale is bad ass and very efficienly d'urine thé opération war in Afghanistan or Mali....and with the two ater burner...during à show off force in aérial meeting..the sound is just incredible Many thank and sorry for my english.. And this channel is very cool ..the vidéo of Metz are just reallly intéressant because of no music just the sourd of life in board
Rafale does not have folding wings like the Hornets but still up to 30 can be crammed aboard a smaller French Navy aircraft carrier. I can only imagine how many more can be carried by a much larger Nimitz class carrier.
Many things we have in common (and plenty we don't, which is fine, and even a positive thing oftentimes), but here we see 2 of the top 3 between France & the US: Amazing aircraft & immensely powerful nuclear-powered aircraft carriers (the 3rd is a whole lot of really awful movies for every 1 good one, but that hardly fits with the theme 😉). Vive la France & God Bless America! 🇫🇷🇺🇸
It certainly wouldn't be as strong without the French. The only European country that makes its own everything, from aircraft carriers to fighter jets (including the engines and weapons) and everything inbetween.
@@Aeronaut1975 That's not entirely true, at least the "everything in between" part. the French operate the Grumman E2 Hawkeye, Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker Boeing E-3 Sentry and new C-130J, plus more on order, and a slue of other aircraft from other countries, like the Pilatus for example.
It would be good if, as an arrogant American, you shut your mouth and watch how you went to Afghanistan in a catastrophic way. and the lamentable manner of your training of Ukrainian soldiers. a French
A bon entendeur 😉
Faignant !
