Frenchman Peak, known as Mandooboornup by the Noongar Wudari people for tens of thousands of years, is home to the Walitj (eagle) Dreaming. Alexander Forrest named it more recently as Frenchman Peak. His reason, because from a distance the large granite rock looks like it has cap on it resembling that worn by French troops in the 1800's.
If you're up for the climb, once at the top you a treated to a 360 degree view of land to north, west and east, the Great Southern Ocean to the south and Lucky Bay, to the south east. Although we have climbed it in the past, today it had been raining with more rain to come and the rock face can become very slippery so we opted to take some drone footage.
It's about 45min drive east of Esperance to Cape Le Grande National Park.
Filmed in 4k (60 fps) using Mavic Pro 3 Drone.
Take nothing but photos/video,
Leave nothing but footprints and
Kill nothing but time.
