The buckle is very similar to a coffee cake but with fruit added in. Excellent for breakfast or dessert, the ground cinnamon and sliced almonds lend a sweet and nutty flavor to the juicy peaches. It’s a wonderfully comforting treat!

In Norway, where I am from, we basically have the same recipe only we use apples, and then on top of the cake before you take it in the oven you just sprinkle a little bit of sugar and cinamon on top! We call it "Epplekake" or roughly translated "Applecake" :)

Add a 1/2 teaspoon almond extract to the cake with the vanilla. It goes so well with peaches, and it will really make the flavors of that topping shine! xox

It worked perfectly. It was super tasty and disappeared within hours. I believe that with that recipe as a base there is a wide range of fruits to substitute peaches...

made this for a party, it was a hit! used 4 big peaches and my cast iron skillet. topped with pecans instead of almonds. everyone thought it was beautiful and delicious!

My grandson is allergic to cinnamon . Besides nutmeg any other suggestions on a substitution for the cinnamon ? I’d like the flavor profile to maintain excellent integrity . So that’s why I’m asking your opinion about a substitution other than the same old nutmeg. I’d like him to have a few other options for once . Thank you.

Yes, Blueberries totally work, but you need a lot of them to get the right consistency. It's like a blueberry muffin, but way more blueberries, and more moist.

I was thinking that Dawn dish detergent would clean the brush well. It bonds to oil and grease. It is used to clean wildlife (birds) exposed to oil spills, with no negative effects.

You can replace them with anything you want except from maybe watermelon. It's no more complicated than a sandwich - you decide what filling you want.

Jonas Rosenven yeah I tried it with apples and I had to peel em off, but it didn't come out well, I think because I messed up somewhere.

Well, yes you're totally right there are verities of ovens, but the one I use works fine and when I follow recipes I use the temperature that's required. But this time it came out like it wasn't cooked enough, it was a little too soft, and the apples were so hard.

With uncooked dough and hard apples it definitely could have used some more time in the oven. It's always good to test how something comes along. If you follow a recipe that uses the oven you can have a quick peek before the stated cooking time is up. Just to check if it is getting too brown. In the case of this cake maybe just poke the apples with a knife to feel if they are soft when the cooking time is up. And maybe poke the dough with a toothpick. If it comes out clean then the dough is finished. Also: the peaches are pretty chunky in this cake. For apples to cook in the same amount of time I would not recommend cutting them wider than half a centimeter/a quarter inch.

Lol, the funny part is that I did poke the dough with a toothpick and it came out clean, and I took it out of the oven and noticed it's very soft texture. But, like you said I think I should've gave them some more time to bake. I think the apples would still be hard even if it's cooked the same time as the peaches because the apple is basically harder than a peach, so it will remain hard unless you cook it some more time, but that will cause this dough to burn. Therefore, in my opinion the solution is to just pick another fruit that's a little bit softer.

Depends on the peach, the peaches I get from a local grower have a very fine thin skin with virtually no fuzz and isn't at all noticeable when cooked, a lot of the supermarket peaches however seem to have very dense heavy skins. Those I would peel.
