Fresno State vs Purdue Close Ending | 2023 College Football

As a Ducks fan, I always worried about playing Fresno St. Much respect!

Remember when Minnesota played Fresno State in 2018 and 2019. Both games went to overtimes. Fresno State is tough.

We need to stop calling it an "upset" when Fresno State takes down a big team. As far back as I can remember -- which would be 1982 -- the Bulldogs have been a massive headache for "power conference" teams. They were still in the PCAA back then -- and took down Oregon, 10-4, as part of an 11-win season. They would have another 11-win season (an unbeaten one, in fact, at 11-0-1) in 1985, taking out Oregon State 33-24 that year. In 2005, Pete Carroll's best USC team, featuring Reggie Bush, made the mistake of inviting Fresno State to the Coliseum. #1 USC trailed #16 Fresno State 42-41 with 6 minutes left before Bush's heroics and a desperate defensive stand inside their own 20 let USC escape with a 50-42 win. They are a notoriously difficult out for power teams.

This Bulldogs team is going to be DANGEROUS with Mikey Keene under center. If he could play like he did against a Power 5 opponent like Purdue, then can you imagine what he's gonna do against Mountain West teams? 👀

reminds me when the bulldogs while being coached by Pat Hill, went up to Wisconsin twice, and won at least one of them.., maybe 2.., back when they had Berrian ..

Purdue has a new coach and a rebuild ahead of them. Its going to be a long year for Purdue fans. Jeff Tedford is a good coach and should have a good season.

I really enjoy Cory Provus on the call, he is the Twins main radio play-by-play too and he always brings a great amount of enthusiasm to the game.

I’ve never raged harder as a Purdue fan kept running it on 3rd downs and 4th and 1s and still wouldn’t be able to run and our defense collapsed after the second half Gg bulldogs I know y’all taking the mountain west again this year

That fourth-and-short play call was questionable. They had MOFC, and instead of sending the two inside and underneath the coverage, they sent him on a vertical route into double coverage, but they allowed the Will to sucker them by zone-dropping into the passing lane.

Just keep in mind, Fresno State has to recruit against a ton of fine Cal schools and West Coast unis. We recruit heavily from Cali's Central Valley. So its impressive that we get the quality of players that we do!!! Tedford is wonderful. Go Dawgs!!!!

Hardly an upset here. Fresno St. knows how to win. Purdue, despite all the hype and pumped-up coach(es), obviously have no clue. Fun game to watch.

Fresno St. could easily be 8-0 going into the Boise St. game and will be favored against Boise. If they win that game they'll be ranked around 10th. Worst case they go 9-4. Purdue goes 4-8

Not an upset. Vegas picked them by 3. Fresno is the better team. I know it's hard to imagine a mountain west team being better than a big ten team, and Purdue is certainly not the worst big ten team, but it's possible. Commentators and AP voters and fans might call it an upset, but Vegas always knows. It was a 50/50 game.

How embarrassing for Purdue. Losing to a city college on their homefield. Wow. This was their paid-for guaranteed win but, no, this coaching staff decided to teach Boilermaker fans a lesson: "We decide how our team plays, not you fans!" Humiliation on their homefield. Oh well... I'm sure they've got a great season in front of them.
