Came here to see his skills. And noticed right away that he’s not scared to throw the deep ball. And also seems to have a quick release. I like what I’m seeing.
@@jessev5542 actually, he compliments McD’s system extremely well. Pocket passer from under center, excels at timing and delivery. McD’s system calls for a guy that doesn’t go off script and throws with accuracy and anticipation. I didn’t watch much Purdue but those traits show up in these clips
Aidan has that "SOMETHING" about him that I just don't see in the other prospects. A certain feeling. I've seen the videos, over and over, of the top 12 QB prospects from Young at 1 to Duggan at 12, with O'Connell at 11, and none of them gave me that intuition or that gut kind of feeling that I get from watching Aidan O'Connell. POCKET PRESENCE, FOOTWORK, QUICK PROGRESSIONS, TOUCH AND ACCURACY. DECISIVE, DECISIVE, DECISIVE!! CONFIDENT AND DELIBERATE IN HIS DECISIONS. GETS THE BALL OUT QUICKLY WITH THE QUICKEST THROWING MOTION OUT OF ALL OF EM!! ONLY RUNS WHEN HE ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO. EXCELLENT MECHANICS WHEN FLUSHED OUT OF THE POCKET....BOTH HANDS ON THE BALL, HIP SWIVEL, SHOULDER DIP, EYES DOWN THE FIELD, SQUARES UP HIS TORSO, FEET AND SHOULDERS BEAUTIFULLY ON THE RUN TOWARDS THE DIRECTION OF THE THROW BEFORE THROWING. CONFIDENT IN HIS DECISIONS, CARRIES ON ACCORDINGLY. POISED AS POISED CAN GET. He's got whatever IT is... The other guys just mostly got hype.🥱
I like his accuracy and ball placement. I watched his highlight videos 3 times now and what worries me is every single pass he threw he was starring down his receivers the whole time. In the entire film he only scanned the field 2 times. You know that won’t work in the NFL. He will be throwing INTs left and right.
Okay experts...Now, who would like to share the scouting reports on pick199 Tom Brady? Pick1JaMarcus Russell? How about Iowa Cyclones arena football QB turned supermarket stock boy turned maestro of the GREATEST SHOW ON TURF Kurt Warner? Vince Young? Matt Leinart? And then proceed to act like ANY OF IT ACTUALLY MATTERS! Besides, have you ever really thought about just how absurdly different college football is from pro football?? DAAAAAYYUUUUMMMMMNNNN
Great pick Raiders! A QB who isn't afraid to sling it and not check down like Carr. Great touch on his passes. No duck rainbows that float too much like Carr, I couldn't stand those passes.
This guy lk has elite accuracy Im a niner fan I was looking at highlights from Charlie Jones and noticed this guy was throwing into some really tight windows
Exactly what I was thinking. In the entire film I think he only scanned the field 2 times. That won’t work in the NFL. He will be throwing INTs left and right if he does that. But I do agree his accuracy. Touch n placement were nice.
This guy's release is insane. By the time in the windup/release I would expect to see the ball come out, it's already five yards down the field. He doesn't have the biggest arm but he puts incredible zip on the ball and it comes out so quick the defenders can't react to it. Future Raiders starter right here. RNFL
I was thinking Alex Smith. Has the extra ability to run when needed. Throws short and intermediate with zip and accuracy. Has to wind up for the deep pass but has the ability to do it. It’s funny that we both think he looks like 2 separate first overall picks of yesteryear but he’s not even gonna sniff the first round in today’s NFL. Edit: And not to disagree with you completely. I do see what you see about Eli. Eli had unappreciated ability to scramble out of a sack until he was about 34.
Bro I love the way u make videos. U should definitely Think about doing other college teams just the way you do videos. Obviously Purdue Is your team but the way you Cut to the next Play Fitting more plays in a smaller time is very creative. Really think about it brother great video.
Alright at first I was kinda ehh on us drafting him but after watching this little highlight reel and a couple others I actually like him now. Some good throws and ridiculous ball placement. With some good development he could be a really good QB1 for us in a couple years. Let’s get it
Man he has great ball placement. When he had a good wr in bell he was doing work. He’s really underrated and that’s because “he doesn’t run” but his release is quick and he’s tough.
I like him, and I think he can be a great backup, but I'm not sure I'd start an immobile QB in todays NFL. Love to see him prove me wrong though! Go Raiders! edit: will say I love the clips where he breaks a sack and throws it immediately after because he kept his eyes downfield. Especially behind such a weak o-line, that's a skill that will translate to the next level
He gets the ball out quick, and I think it's better to get the ball out before the defense has a chance to break through the line and chase you down. We've seen mobile QBs be ineffective against a solid defense. I mean, if the answer was always a mobile QB, then Kyler Murray would be winning most of his games (Murray is 25-31-1, by the way).
This is exactly how Brady uses his passing motion...he is just more gutsy than Brady because he can tuck it and run when necessary...he will be special in the end because McDaniels WANTED him and i can respect that⭐
@@syckmusyck6593 Peyton had double INTs to TDs rookie year. O’Connell took some time to blossom. If you don’t see the drastic change in his game from the beginning of this replay to the end, that’s on you Mr stat guy
I wasn't sure even after watching his first Raiders pre season game which was great but my hunch seems right. His ball placement and accuracy is impressive. This highlights proves he is him. Now I'm really excited for this season. This is exactly what we needed. A new QB that's not like Carr
My New Orleans Saints need this young man! Very similar to Drew Brees he doesn't have a strong arm but very accurate and just enough arm to keep the defense honest!
4:29 OMG perfect sync, great job of the WR to fake a short hitch, then commit to the deep run. and O'Connell placement was amazing. this kid is gonna be nasty.
Nice touch, nice anticipation and accuracy. Went against better teams when he has less talent around him. Keeps his eyes down field and has good feet. Can throw on the run. Maybe not the biggest arm but has enough to play in the pros. Idk guys seems like a solid pick. McDaniels wanted this guy the whole time I think.
Now he gets to throw to adams, Mayer, meyers, hooper, renfrow, Jacobs pffftttt this dude can shock a lot of ppl with that type of talent he’d be throwing to
Free that Aidan O’Connell is the future for the Raiders raider nation been waiting decades I mean fuck in decades for this shit go right a nation go raider nation let’s ride
would of went undrafted you people are delusional he will never be more than a 3rd stringer he has more ints than tds lol uses his whole body to throw his arm is really weak
Here, commenting one day after the Raiders made him the starting quarterback instead of Garoppolo, and he’s got an incredible delivery, I hate to say it, because it’s just not a fair comparison, but he reminds me a little bit of Brady, he stands very tall in the pocket. He’s got a killer delivery. I wish him much success.
*A few of these look like they'd be picked of in the NFL. I don't know if that's normal or not. I dont usually watch QB highlights.* *He does a good job placing the ball were only his attended target can grab it.*
