Happy Fretless Friday! Here's a new tune called Sourwood Mountain! It got a bit hectic at the end there, but I think the song sounds really cool with the slides the fretless can do! Once I'm rested up from camp, I'll hopefully be able to get my fretless skills back on track; I feel like I've regressed a bit in my playing recently haha.

Sourwood Mountain is my favorite old time tune next to Sugar Hill, so glad you played it! That fifth string technique can also be substituted for a pull off on the first string, or even a drop thumb on the first and second strings! Glad you had a great time at camp, and I can't wait to hear all the other songs you learned!

I love the sound of those slide notes and it is a bright melody. Don't worry too much about what advice people give you. My best advice is just to be the best version of yourself. BTW you are doing great!

Perfect pitch is a blessing and a curse, and in tune enough is definitely not enough. But it’s a cool song and I can imagine you taking it along.

I hear lot of native indian and root black rythm, where you struggle a bit that is an blues lick to me. Howling Wolf had an guitarist playing a bit the same, roots and evolution pheraps I do not know but it just came to me. Great fun! I play the guitar my self but this is tempting I realy should try sometime.

So the way i play redwing I have a moment like you were showing, where i break the clawhammer rhythm to thumb the twanger on the beat as a melody note. I just tried hitting it with my finger instead and it felt so unnatural to bring my hand up that high! I dont think i'll be keeping that trick. . .

I don't think you need to do anything else. Anyway you are dressed up sort of. You've got a sort of farm aesthetic (which obviously goes with banjos.)
