@dianeladico1769
@dianeladico1769 Год назад
The trouble with that is you'd have to find one that doesn't use sugar or oil or eggs and flour is problematic, depending on your condition. You could be just trading one problem for another. In the study they used 30g/day or about 3 tablespoons. You could scale it up and revise your favorite recipe. The study is the first one linked under the video on his website. You can pull that up and see if there are further details. I add it to hot whole grain cereal daily and always use it as an egg substitute.

@@dianeladico1769 Thank you for your informative comment…Do you have any concern about the flax being harmed by the heat of the oatmeal? In particular, the healthy oils in it? I’ve started to place my flax and chia in a smaller container (1/2 cup containers often used for condiments) and I spoon a cooled oatmeal bite into that smaller cup and consume the seeds that way. My oatmeal is always so piping hot when I place it in my bowl.
@dianeladico1769
@dianeladico1769 6 месяцев назад
@@Maggie-zr2ow Excellent point. I add the ground flax last, after the plant milk and fruit and nuts so it's a comfortable temp. Your way sounds ideal. I have more concern about the oils degrading with oxidation so I store seeds in a vacuum bag in the freezer and once I grind a cup or so it lives in a jar in the fridge. That said, I'm in it more for the fiber so I never gave the oil much thought-thank you for that. FWIW, when use it as an egg replacer it's in something that's a 'cheat' food like pancakes so I don't worry about it being good, just not as bad as eggs.
@Maggie-zr2ow
@Maggie-zr2ow 6 месяцев назад
@@dianeladico1769 Your version of oatmeal sounds delicious. The plant milk would definitely work to cool it down. And what a great way to make a cheat food like pancakes. For your pancake recipe, do you use the usual white flour? We sometimes miss having a pancake meal but always think we’d have to buy eggs, and we don’t want them in the house, so we move on. The flax substitute is a really great idea. I read that flax seeds should be in a darkened container so I wrapped aluminum foil around my mason jar that stores the freshly ground flax, and I already freeze the bulk of it. I recently saw a guy (Consumer Lab) testing flax for cadmium levels, and while he didn’t test every brand, he did find the WFoods 365 organic flax to have the least amount. We switched from Food To Live to 365.
@dianeladico1769
@dianeladico1769 6 месяцев назад
@@Maggie-zr2ow Our pancake days are one Sunday every few weeks and yes, plain old white flour. Whole grain would be nice but truly, I often just use a mix. I've thought of trying a breakfast chickpea flour pancake. We usually eat the savory version but a sweet one should be good, like a hoe cake perhaps. Have to try that soon. For me, flax eggs were a game changer. Not only won't I eat eggs because of the health reasons I've found I just don't feel well if I have them-like I ate concrete so I stay away from them entirely. You are correct-keeping flax in the dark is a good idea. Thanks so much for the Cadmium info. The two bags of flax I have are Food to Live. I will keep that in mind and switch when it's time to restock.

With ground flaxseed, you never need to bake dough with eggs:. To replace two eggs for baking, microwave a half-cup (120 mL) water, stir in 3 Tablespoons (44 mL) of ground flaxseed, then allow them to gel before beating them in like eggs. The drop in hypertensive blood pressure is worth the drop in probability flaxseed chocolate chip cookies will make it to the oven.

I like to steam sweet potatoes (cut into rough chunks!), with butternut squash, sometimes carrot, and the moisture from all that easily soaks into a hearty portion of flax and some hemp. I get flax whole and keep it frozen to use with my nutribullet 1200. It has prevailed at grinding my flax for 3 years now, just helps to get about the right amount in it to buzz. ....and I found that the 'BODUM' storage jar 0.6 l, 20 oz, does the trick. Just fill it to the base of the silicon grip with whole, frozen flax, ..pour that amount into the bullet, and although you will start to hear it test the motor a bit, no problem, done. Put in back in the storage jar and it's full of fresh ground flax!. Been sharing this with an old Labrador, and she certainly seams to be defying her age. ..so proof is in the 'eating' of the pudding I'm sure now, and I like it with a dash of soy sauce. Soak the potatoes and squash in cold water after the steam if you want a quick serve, and simply work the flax and hemp into the mash. I steam until soft and simply stir it in. I usually make enough to last a few days, glad to hear it's actually been work it all this time!

Flax seeds have just about eliminated plaque buildup. Ever since I started eating flax and chia "enriched" pancakes, even though the pancakes have some flour and sugar in them, and even though I eat them with maple syrup and blueberries, there is strikingly little plaque buildup in my mouth (a massive change that quickly happened when I started eating them). The fiber must be feeding the good gut bacteria, and edging out unhealthy gut bacteria--maybe plaque buildup is actually based largely not merely on sugar in the diet but on bacteria in the gut (and absence of good gut bacteria, which lets the bad bacteria run amok). Please look in to this.
