In this video we're listening to more from The Cars for our Friday Favourites series. Yet another band that kind of shaped our taste in music when we were young. And they are just the right amount of quirky. We can't wait to hear another track from them. Enjoy!

The title track from The Cars 3rd album & one on which they were allowed complete " artistic freedom " They'd earned that after the massive success of the first two albums. A solid album & difficult to find as its frequently out of print.

More unusual track by them, I have heard it before and liked it as it seems a bit more experimental than their other stuff, it reminds me a bit of early Roxy Music, who of course influenced a lot of bands of the '70s and '80s.

Wow! That's one of their songs I'd heard only maybe a couple of times before! Quite unusual indeed, and kinda reminds me of some of Split Enz' stuff 😀 *Edit:* According to Wickie Pedia, this was actually _not_ released as a Single!

I know a lot of Cars fans didn’t like this album. It’s more experimental than the past two lps and this track the most experimental and least pop sounding on the lp. I would have suggested Touch and Go instead. I’m probably in the minority, I really like the album.

You can definitely tell both songs are from the same album! And I agree with you on 'Touch And Go' being a better song 🙂

Uhm, "Panorama" was their DUD album. It's a very disappointing album for Cars' fans. This sounds like a bad soundtrack to a bad T.V. show. "Heartbeat City" in 1984 is a far superior album to "Panorama" Their debut album from 1978 is one of the most complete albums ever made in history. Even "Candy-O" has some great songs on it. "Panorama" is a 'dog' of an album.

This is by far one of The Cars' best tracks, taken from their best album Panorama. And guess what? This video was co-directed by Devo's Gerald V. Casale and Chuck Statler, who directed Devo's earliest videos, so the connection is there, but it's deliberate! ...and in any case, here, Ric Ocasek's voice has more to do with The Cure's Robert Smith than with Devo.😉

@@a.k.1740 in your opinion..👀 Cheers for the background stuff , I didn’t know that tbh but to me it was obvious as hell the Devo homage going on there 👌 👀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
