No problem here. I feel like I'm getting a free college course in Meteorology with every one of your videos. Todays lesson: Determining storm shear direction through triangular vectors. Or something like that. Guess I should have stayed in University. :)

Living on the Space Coast in Florida, never really got hyped up over hurricane season until the terrible 2004 season.... then every year was suddenly just an awful anxiety filled 6 months during the season. So glad I just randomly stumbled on your site a few years ago. I really appreciate how you don't sensationalize anything for views. You just give us the facts in a calm and informative manner, and it really helps. So just, thank you for that! The season is so much more manageable with your input, as well as the information you provide on your site.

You seriously hit the nail on the head. We were displaced for 7 months after a hurricane in 2020, and I had such terrible storm anxiety.. I would check weather patterns multiple times a day. He has helped me feel so much calmer and able to let go of checking for myself.

I was 9 in 2004, and that summer is ingrained into my memory for all time. Charley's eye went directly over my house and I remember how clear and quiet it was almost 20 years later. I've been fascinated with and in awe of hurricanes ever since.

We are so happy and relieved here in Puerto Rico!!! This hurricane would had totally destroyed us..our power grid is still not totally rebuilt after hurricane Maria!!! I got all the metal storm window shades up...the boat out of San juan Bay and secured...etc etc...I just hope and pray it doesn't hit land and stays in the ocean...for those who have never been hit directly by a hurricane of this strength I will assure you it's no fun..it's absolutely total destruction and the aftermath are weeks of suffering!! No water.no power.no ice.no fuel.no food.no medical facilities open .no road access..it's a total nightmare

Why do the models keep initializing 30-40 mbs higher than what the hurricane hunters are finding? Do they not add in the info they find into the models?
@Jonathan-qr7gx
@Jonathan-qr7gx 10 месяцев назад
I wondered the same thing!
@Tropical-Tidbits
@Tropical-Tidbits 10 месяцев назад
It really depends on the model. Some models take the human-assessed intensity (often from recon aircraft) and incorporate it into the model analysis (e.g., HAFS and GFS). Others don't or incorporate that information less strongly (e.g., ECMWF). Even if they do, model resolution may be too coarse to resolve a strong hurricane fully, making it appear weaker than it actually is.

Hurricane Hugo was a major storm right off the coast of Africa. It made a perfectly straight line across the Atlantic to North Carolina. Every day the forecasters kept predicting "the turn" right off the US coast. Hugo made "the turn" at the Great Lakes into Canada. Every time I hear the phrase "the turn" my anxiety level goes up.

I always wait for Dr. Levi detailed weather forecast. Living in Florida his videos always help me make decisions of what I am supposed to do. Like Idalia, I packed and left. Luckily the hurricane lost it bands on the right side of storm when it hit land or else my house could have been devastating. Thank you Dr. Levi for all your videos. You the best❤❤😊

Out of curiosity, can you take a step back behind the troughs and ridges, and see what affects them to move fast or slow? It'd be like playing a game of chess where you plan moves ahead, or covering your pieces with other pieces! The whole world's weather is linked- that makes it like 3D chess! :D

You can't say 100% more than 10 days out it won't effect land. The eastern ridge could slow and Lee can sit and spin.

Merci evi. I've put out a PSA on Twitter for Bermuda to requisition a cruise ship to house their poplation, which Paul Beckwith talked about during Fiona. I've had about 100 views on a couple of the tweets with less than 10 reposts. Criminal. It's like your 77.8K subs and less than 4.1K views. And Climate Scam is trending on Twitter.
