How interesting that so many of the modifications you have chosen are similar to the choices I make on my own personal instruments… there has to be something in it. Thank you so much for being a part of the Chapman family, that guitar couldn’t have had a better home :-)
Dang!!! That playing from 16:24 to 19:20 (and the rest) is AWSOME!! So many moment of sheer beauty: the fluid melodic run starting at 16:38, choke bends at 17:30, (I know it's not but sounds amazing) pick slide greatness at 18:20, raking string at 18:36 and all that bending to even higher semitones around 19:00 ... just breathtaking. YOU ARE FREAKIN AMAZING. Please release an EP/Album soon - I would happily buy XX
Stunning. I have a lot of time for Chappers. Initially he seemed maybe intimidating but he’s so talented capable and motivated. And the work he’s done with these guitars is awesome. Respect. 🎸 Great partnership you and Chapman. Makes so much sense for you and the brand. Magic!!! 🎸🌞🌻
Holy moly that Candlebox jumper! I loved that band back in the 90s, I think I still have the first album here somewhere. You've inspired me to see if it's here and give it a spin!
THAT REVERB... GUDNESS GRACIOUS.... all talk aside - *you got a GREAT Talent!!!!* Thank you RU-vid for suggesting me channel of such Wonderfull Musician... Good God...:)
Wow, killer playing here all throughout Dave . 16:38 - 16:52 might be one of my personal favorite phrases that i've ever heard played on guitar so I had to learn it myself, thank you. Really enjoyed listening to you play
morning Dave-yes you are correct m8 STUNNING GUITAR and the playing what can i say brilliant for a saturday morning m8,Daves in dreamland again you tubers
Amazing playing, soul, and tone. You have it in spades my friend. I thought I knew a bit about amps, but your solid state and pedals blow my farty tubes dinghy across the sea. I need a rethink and a fruity drink. Preferably an Orange Crush.
I haven’t been able to keep up with everything Guitar lately. Wonderful playing as always good Sir. Are you now an official artist for Chapman? Are you going to be designing your own signature series? Sorry I’m just really behind so far this year.
Yeah he should do a custom shop For me though a good LP a couple good strats and call it a day I don't even have a Fender clone Truthfully I'm a firm believer that amps are 75 percent of the tone and pick ups are the most important thing on an electric guitar
The Orange /Fender setup sounds unreal. I rented a Princeton 68 and wet dried it with my OR 15 and that is the tone I’ve been trying to find for years . Great guitar demo
Dave I’m late to the party lol. I just picked this awesome guitar up. Have to say I am very impressed with it. Always enjoy your reviews and playing. I really enjoyed you showing what this guitar was capable of. Do you happen to remember your signal chain when you did this video. I’m going to be looking into building a pedalboard and really liked the tones you were getting.
You really should build your own strat w Warmoth parts and the tronics you love I'm done with getting guitars that I have to change things Hate break the solder joints and all that mess Give a DIY a try you would be pleasantly surprised Good stuff 👍 Mr Simpson
That is a nice guitar, I might consider buying one of those very soon. What finish is that Dave? That is a nice looking axe! Love the look of that!! Dave this one of your best jams ever dude!! Fantastic playing!!
Don't ever stop making videos, Dave! And if you ever can, try the Charvel DK 22, maybe you'll like it. I've got the DK24 mim and it's amazing, but I'll guess, because it's a superstrat, it won't be your jam, but maybe the 22? Idk but they are great instruments for sure.
I recently got a hard tail strat and really really love it Already have a great 65 that the wammy bar stays awesomely in tune so there you go I have a couple LP knock offs but no Strat clones but have to say this guitar looks pretty cool Good stuff 👍
Hi Dave, gorgeous guitar!! Just a thought on the bit you don't like about the headstock: Chapman make left handed guitars, so try getting a left handed neck and fit it, that way you will have the tuners on the way you like. Not sure but maybe they don't do it standard cos of copyright of headstock etc, but nothing stopping you doing it post-production. See if Rob can hook you up :D Hopefully this could lead to a new model including all your other mods :)
Beautiful guitar! It also shows that if a guitar is going to be a keeper, why not mod it so that it really fits the player well. Think sometimes we can get hung up on keeping things standard and end up making a compromise or worse still just not playing or bonding with the instrument. That said I wouldn't hack my LP about but then I like it just as is, but some of my other guitars will get modified. Great vid and awesome playing as always Dave . cheers! really enjoyed it.
i love my Ml1 Pro Hybrid too! (the Phoenix Rain) and i think i will thinker with the height of the pickup as well (aside iam a fanatic of position 4 and 2 haha) out of the box it does already play so well (the neck OMG is freaking amazing!!!) and great playing!!!
You can't really appreciate a nice birds eye maple neck until you've seen one in person. Sounds, literally and figuratively, like a nice guitar. Great playing as always. Only constructive thought is the humbuckers sound just a tad thin. But then I like a beefier humbucker sound.
Dave you dont have a cheap les paul shaped guitar u could part with ..hmm..a guy can hope... love ya brother..glad to see you winning..you deserve it 💚👍😎
Who's the new dude? Has anyone seen Dave? Oh, it is Dave! I, too, prefer three-way selectors on Strats. Some great improvements there, esp. sinking the HB.
Nice one! Much better moving the switch placement. I still don't like reverse headstocks, they just look wrong to me. The headstock issue was brought up in an interview with Lee Anderton a couple of years ago and he hinted that there might be some non-reverse ones, but that hasn't happened and I wonder if Rob has said no because he does like the reverse headstock as the brand's USP.
Idea: take that second switch you don't use out, then fill it with black resin. the black will match the pickups and leave a sort of cool line (watching from a distance) that is still symmetrical with the pickup switch you use.
I was wondering if you checked out their Strat style guitar with the carved top and all single coils. I’ve been wanting to buy one when I have the extra cash.
Also, r.e. the Tone Master: did you do the firmware update? Do you prefer it to the original setup? I got the blonde DR and love it as is (had firmware bright cap removed and improved reverb controls out of the box, plus the upgraded speaker). Love the Tone Master. GREAT playing, sir! And what a gorgeous guitar. Chapman was absolutely right to choose you as an artist for their line!
Hi Dave, new fan with a couple questions here, I’m absolutely in love with your Frusciante style playing, you are insanely talented my dude. The big part of the Frusciante tone I struggle with is his clean tone. My amp is a Fender Supersonic 22, and is extremely clean. Do you think the Marshall Jackhammer would be the ideal pedal to push my tone into that clean but crunchy Chili Peppers sound? And if so, do you have any tips for using this pedal or exact settings you could share with me to dial it in properly? I already have a DS-2 and I have a WH10 V3 arriving in the next couple days, and I can’t wait to try it out. Much appreciated my friend, love your channel!
I would definitely recommend the jackhammer to help with that yes. As for settings its really hard to say. I have videos on how i have mine set so you can use those as a starting point.
@@thedavesimpson Brilliant, really appreciate the reply dude! Just one more question I forgot to add, I see that when you use the DS-2 you have all the dials maxed, including the Level dial. This might be a rookie question, but how exactly do you play with the level maxed out and still play at a reasonable volume? When I try this the volume goes CRAZY, way too loud for home use. I’m guessing it’s because I’m playing with the clean signal straight into the DS-2 instead of an already overdriven signal into it?
I would still find those single coils a bit high! I tend to hit the middle pickup with my pick on some guitars. How would you say this compares to your old (3 single coils) Chapman?
Love your playing, just checked your live performance and those bends are screaming. Love it, such an amazing player. The looks of this guitar, not so much for me. Birds eye, gold hardware, flame, binding on a solid, the knobs, it’s really the opposite of everything I think are nice haha. But it is about the sound ofcourse and at least it’s original. To each his own.
He got a new selector cos the original is in a bad place, if heakes a kill switch of the original selector he'll end up with a badly placed kill switch. Why bother?
Dear Dave can you persuade Chapman to produce some models with non reversed headstocks? Some of their guitars are nice, but I dislike these reversed headstocks, They are not for me. And hey, it must be so easy to equip them with "normal" necks too. I bet they would sell a lot of them and get new customers.
I’m stoked you finally have a guitar company sponsoring you Dave! You really deserve it But in all honesty Chapman are the wrong brand for you (IMO). Despite Rob Chapman being a shlt human these guitars just aren’t you nor do they sound as good as the Oswald strats you have been playing. the two reviews you have done sound like you are biting your tongue a little bit. So Hopefully if you stay with Chapman they actually build you one to your specs instead of just sending you their generic models
Hang on....Chapman is sponsoring Dave and providing him with guitars to showcase.... this guy calls him a Sh*t human, and Dave likes the comment? Am I missing something here??
