12:24 "I do try to avoid stopping at the reds if I can avoid it, I'd rather crawl along at 5mph, I think it's better for the passengers" - I completely agree, many thanks for this approach, as a nervous passenger I do get worried sometimes when we stop especially in tunnels. Appreciate the video, interesting to see the night view too.

Having played train driving games (and posted some on RU-vid myself!) I have heard it's also harder with some trains to get going from a cold stop, especially uphill. So you are usually advised to go slowly from a yellow instead if just pulling up and stopping. Of course, sometimes scenario makers force you to rush freight services for some god-awful reason and make things harder for yourself...

Hello Dale, What an absolute wonderful collection of vlogs and you come across in such an interetsing manner. My partner and I will be travelling to the UK as part of a world holiday in August 2024, your commentary and vlog travelling from Heathrow Airport to Kings Cross Pancras station via the underground railway has anwsered all our questions how to manage. Having grown up in Sydney Australia with an interest in trains and how they work your vlogs have filled many a cold nigh here. You have a special way of presenting and I always look forward to watching new vlogs. Well done Dale

At your point about other varieties of filming, I totally understand why you can't do this "headcam" thing. We're lucky enough to have this content that you make already and for me at least it's perfectly satisfactory. I use the Picc semi-regularly and when the new trains come in I'll be using it a lot more as I capture the changeover in rolling stock with my photo camera, it's awesome to see what the driver does. Being a Train Op with the Underground is one of my ultimate dream jobs. Brilliant video as always Dale, I always look forward to watching them.

Recently discovered this account. I grew up close to the line between Arnos Grove and Southgate, so very familiar with this line at the northern end. That’s some commute between Peterborough and Cockfosters!! I’m old enough to remember when there were 4 different train types running at the same time on the Piccadilly, 38, 56, 59 & 73 stock in 1975

At Covent Garden the gap was for the Aldwych shuttle to reverse before they did that at Kx. At Baron's Court the slow bit might be related to a cross over ( west to east ) patched out on the Earls Court diagram . All this ended before my time at Earls Court.

Another fascinating cab ride. Love it. Just wondering how you get home. Let's say you drive from your home to Cockfosters at the start of your shift. What happens when you stable a train at the end of your shift and it's a long way from where you parked ? Sorry if that sounds nosey. Just curious, cos I assume you don't always have the luxury of starting and ending your shift at the same station.

Hello from Canada! I've seen a few of your videos now, and while I'm sure many an every day Londoner wouldn't understand, I appreciate you making them. I've been to the UK many times and some of my fondest memories of London are riding around on the tube. The sights and sounds in your videos bring me back, which is nice, as both of my grandfathers were born in the UK, so I see it as kind of a second home. I have a question if you know the answer and ever have time to answer it either in comment or video. Sorry if it's been answered already. I haven't come across it yet, and maybe it's obvious (not to me), but why do some trains spark with electricity underneath on the rails? The train at 6:35 for instance does it a bit. Your train must be doing it at 1:03:56 or so. Thanks!

Hey, Dale, I just wanted to say that I absolutely! Love your videos, and I seriously appreciate the commentary. Quick question, when you pull into the terminus, and switch ends, do you exit the train and use the platform? Or do you walk through the length of the entire train? Just curious. Lol.

Most of the time I do walk down the outside of the train as it’s quicker than having to open and close all the internal doors. The only exception is at Rayners Lane. We have to walk through the train there

Do you just do the Piccadilly Line? Despite the piccadilly line being my favorite line, I love the Northern Line also. Love your videos and hope you do the Terminal 4 loop soon - Chris

According to the interwebs, you could power your GoPro from a power bank (external usb battery) if it's a hero black 5 through to 12. Might help save time with rushing a battery change. Please check the manual tho. Internet has been wrong before haha. Kind regards, Si.

As a railwayman I know that there are collector shoes on the wheel sets and under the bodywork of the trains and the power supply is 630 volts DC or 3000 amps

You do sometimes hear about "ghostly goings on" on the tube at night. Ever experienced anything like that? Loving the vids.

I have not. A few drivers are convinced the sidings at Down Street are haunted. Can’t say I’ve had any issues in there

I wonder how many years the telephone system will be removed before they remove the red signs with a crossed out T? I agree that smoother train handling comes from not rushing up to a stop and then taking off again.

Morning Dale. How do you know which stations to stop at and which to pass through? Love your content

There are only 4 stations ( 3 after 2230) that we don’t stop at and they are all in one section. So it’s easy to remember where you should and shouldn’t be stopping
