Alex Austin You know I like Solaire but it's really lame that they forced that reference in there when they gave Cervantes a praise the sun victory pose. Real talk though, something from Dark Souls has a high probability of being in SC6.
Come trip down, and face it, you're old Voucher, you go down your waterhole FREEEeeeeeee your MIIII-IIII-IIIIME KER-BLAM! Your wall waits for your use FINE! Not very good, just do it for you It turns out you lose It's up to you to learn, it's up to you to shine Like a bamboooooo -days before looking up lyrics on the internet
Allow me to explain the naming situation. So, the game is called Soul Edge in Japan, but was renamed to Soul Blade in North America and Europe because they wanted to avoid any potential legal shenanigans, because a man named Tim Langdell thought he owned the word "edge" in it's entirety, and was trying to sue anyone who dared use the word in their title, including Mobigame, Marvel, Future Publishing, 20th Century Fox and eventually EA, who completely wiped the floor with him in court.
Fun Fact: In the UK version of Soul Blade, Li Long's nunchucks were changed to a Sansetsukon due to the fact that gangs were using nunchucks after seeing Enter the Dragon. This is why Michelangelo uses a grapple hook in later series and why TMNT was later renamed to Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in the UK and parts of Europe.
You can't tell me you wouldn't want to hear a history documentary with the Soul Blade announcer... "Welcome to World War 2... the stage of History"... D-DAY: "The grueling battle ended with the victory of... Allies. YOU WIN!"
I would like to congratulate you guys on making the most cozy, welcoming and uplifting intro to any series. Makes me feel a little bit less of a loser every Friday i stay home
One of my favorite PS1 games of all time. Soul Blade was a masterpiece. I honestly love this game more than most of the Soul Calibur games that came after it.
I love the Soul Series so much, seeing this run worse on a PS3 than my old PS2 physically hurts me. Now since I'm a nerd about this stuff time to correct Pat's 「CRAZY TALK」about Soul Calibur lore: 1)Li Long *has* appeared again (he's mentioned in SC1, he's a bonus character in SC3 and he's an updated real character in SC3 Arcade Edition. 2)Bangoo does not 'become Rock' 3)Cervantes is *not* dead in this game 4)Sophitia breaks one of Cervantes' swords, Taki kills Cervantes, Siegfried kills 'Soul Edge' (though he's not named Inferno in this game he *is* still the same entity) 4)Seong Mi-na is Korean, not Chinese 6)Tira isn't the worst, Scheherazade is.
spiffythealien also Yun Seoung debuted in SoulCalibur II not IV. Some real winners in that game with Yun Seoung, Generic Lizardman, Assassin, Necrid, And Berserker...
I like how high the damage is. Just in case you forgot they were beating each other with metallic weapons, it really gets to simulate the feel it has to get sliced.
I believe Seung Mina is using a Guandao here even though throughout the series she is known for many different varieties of pole arm weapons like the Japanese Naginata or the Korean & Chinese Hyup Do.
Pat's wrong, Lilong, Hwang, and most of the old school precursors to later characters are playable as bonus characters in Soul Calibur 3. They use create-a-fighter move lists but they have unique appearances that can't be fully replicated. Is that a form of Crazy Talk? I don't think so, since Pat was just wrong lmao. Also, Seong Mi-na is Korean, not Chinese. Also, Cervantes was just super magic evil dude and Sophitia defeats him, shatters Soul Edge, and he then tries to fight with the broken Soul Edge, Taki jumps in, kills Cervantes. Then Inferno is like "No, jk lol" and resurrects Cervantes. Play SC3!! That's my favorite. I used to destroy people in that before my college days.
SilverWolf1988 they can be replicated, since unlocking them grants you their costume pieces. Their 2P outfits and voiceclips, however, are unique. Also one or two of them became series staples, such as Amy
I probably had no fucking idea what I was doing as far as actually being good at the game, but I was fucking unstoppable with the create a character dual nunchuck fighter.
I remember as a kid back when this first came out my uncle rented this from a blockbuster along with Megaman 8. I couldn't help but think about "The Real Adventures Of Johnny Quest" everytime I saw siegfried's face in the intro. 96-97 was a fun year for me growing up especially gaming as a kid.
This game has aged exceptionally well, ESPECIALLY that intro. Edge of Soul is the single greatest intro track in ANY fighting game, period. Edge Master Mode is a thing that more fighting games desperately need - a huge-ass story mode full of cool unlockables and special fight conditions.
Man... Rock sounds like me on the toilet after I ate too much Mexican food with extra hot sauce... or me in front of the toilet after I drank to much Jaegermeister
The weirdest thing going from SoulCalibur to Soul Edge for me was Siegfried’s personality. In Soul Edge he’s all cocky like “I never had such an easy victory!” but in SoulCalibur he’s a much sadder character. It was neat to see how much he changed after becoming Nightmare for part of SoulCalibur and all of SoulCalibur 2.
Siegfried joined with some bad eggs and raided a castle or some shit. Y'know, medieval tomfoolery. He decapitated some dude and held his head up in triumph. When the moonlight shone on him, it revealed that it was his own father's head. Siegfried went into such an insane state of denial that he traveled across the continent to get Soul Edge.
I know this is old but, Sophitia destroys the small Soul Edge sword and gets gravely injured from it. Taki saves her and kills Cervantes. Taki carries Sophitia away and Siegfried attempts to take the sword when Inferno possesses Cervantes dead body. Siegfried impaled Inferno and breaks Faust in the process but only after this does he siezes Soul Edge becoming the new host and unleashing the Evil Seed onto the world.
I first played the shit out of this game when i was like 5, and it was the only fighting game i played for like 3 years. It will forever have a special place in my heart
Edge of Soul is the best intro song ever. I am 26, and my coworkers get to listen to Tool, Korn, and Edge of Soul whenever I can force them too. You need hype? Just play Edge of Soul. You need to bake some cookies? Edge of Soul. You need to do some laundry? Edge of soul. That OP is the BEST.
*Gasp*... the curtain has been withdrawn and the radical as fuck soundtrack to Max's intro has just been revealed to a lot of us TBF/Max Fans who never put our detective hats on and tried to figure it out before now. Now go... LET THE LEGEND COME BACK TO LIFE~!
My friends and I sank months of our lives into this game in college. The Edge Master Mode and its unlockable weapons gave the versus mode a great shot of variability.
「Act Ecchi Ni-San」 this ripped off tekken which ripped off virtual fighter which ripped off Spiderman which is a side story of WoW which is a homage to warhammer 40k
I feel like Namco has ported over these exact attack animation assets for all subsequent games in the Soul series. Like, they didn't even re-do them, they just kept re-using them, all the way up to SoulCalibur V. 'Cause they hold up really well.
