I legit made the mistake of drinking a freshly purchased coffee while watching this on mobile, and promptly had to go buy another when hearing Cam calmly ask "are we going to make the trains touch?" caused me to both spit out what i had just drank and drop the cup from laughing so hard
I tweeted this already, but thank you for sharing your experience drafting this set, even though I had V6 instead of V2, it was still a ton of fun. I lead a teen magic club and due to the cost, they don't get to draft much, so this was a great experience for them, but also for me. Thanks!
The opening of The Friday Night Paper Fight title screen ending in all its epicness opening to everyone just starting at the camera really made me laugh for some reason
6:50 hmm, an evolving cube idea... Nobody is ever happy draft green or white at my local gamestore so you might as wel remove those and make a grixis cube... Or a mono-red cube. But not a mono-blue cube ever
Well you won’t be able to draft it because they drafts 6 to 8 people but you can just do six pack sealed so give everybody six piles of 15 cards and then let them build a 40 card deck
@@dustfinger5312 it was from a diff video where chat asked why he didn't cast approach for the win, and he very adamantly told everyone we were wrong and that he absolutely didn't have the mana for it. Lol this was a comment i didn't expect to reply to 2 years later 😆
I'm not sure how well a link I post would work, but if you type "card kingdom starter cube cubetutor" into Google, the first three results are the various versions of the cube that Card Kingdom has sold.
57:39 if one can cast a card without paying its mana cost, then one is able to use awaken. The key difference is that Awaken is an alternate cost while something like kicker is an additional cost. If something with kicker is cast "for free" then the regular mana cost isn't paid for, but if kicker is announced then it must be paid for. Tl;dr, Serge could have cast the removal with awaken.
This is flat wrong. If you cast a card “without paying its mana cost” you can’t choose to cast it for any alternative costs, such as awaken costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, such as that of Lightning Axe, you must pay those to cast the card. Edit: It is possible you meant that surge could choose to pay the 7 mana rather than use the free cast from vault, this is also wrong, though closer to the truth. Only one alternate cost can be paid for any spell. If surge had Omniscience or some similar card, and Ruinous Path in hand, he could choose to either pay 0, 3 or 7(with awaken). Oracle's Vault, however, is slightly different. the alternate cost is the only cost that allows the card to be cast from exile. "Until end of turn, you may play that card without paying its mana cost" rather than "Until end of turn, you may play that card and you may cast it without paying its mana cost". This was likely done for brevity and clarity, though it does mean that this corner case is different.
Lighting needs work still. #bane (Also, the video monitors need to be moved...unless you like having the subjects cocking their heads around like birds looking for predators.)
Well the draft was good, LRR content always strong, but the cube itself sucks. Decks all look like a bunch of the first kitchen table decks made from literally any cards they could find :/ not a fan
