The Friday Nights crew make their resolutions for the new year, ready to tackle them in all their Magic glory. But who will stay strong in the face of doubt?
"It's a format where you play rares." "That's Standard." "No, like from all of Magic's history." "That's Vintage." "No, just the rares." "That's stupid."
But was a Contraption always meant to be like this, or were there different possible outcomes that got reduced to one single game mechanic by what we now call history?🤔
I liked that they had the gang dropping off donations to a food bank and giving a lunch to a homeless guy while they made their resolutions. It's a subtle nod to the fact gamers are overall pretty generous with charities (heck the LRR gang do Desert Bus For Hope every year, and have raised millions for sick children just by playing video games and telling jokes). It was also a nice way to acknowledge that Magic: The Gathering isn't everything in life, and there's more more important acts that these people are capable of considering and doing. Happy New Year, everyone.
okay holy MATT WIGGINS NEW INTRO CARDS THE ENTIRE PAUPER SCENE KATHLEEN NOT PLAYING DIMIR ALEX'S PANTS THE DUDE WHO ACTUALLY LIFTS AND THE WAY THE CANADIANS SAY 'GRAND'.
We actually say "grand" the same way as you presumably do (long a, hard d), it's just that the "grand" in grand prix is a french phrase originally, therefore it's a o sound and a soft d.
Great video guys! I can see a big improvement in all aspects of the show from the camera movement to the jokes and transitions. I always look forward to these so please keep posting!
I hadn't rewatched this one since I became a rules advisor and that opalesence humility reference made me spit out my breakfast. It's always good to see new jokes you've missed.
Where's Cameronnnn? D: Though good to see Matt is back (at least if for an episode). Recently found the FN vids and binged on all the previous episodes. So glad to see a new one! Keep up the great work FN crew!
I got it. Prancy Pants can use whatever rares you want, no limits, but anyone can buy your deck off of you at any time for $20 (after a game/tournament, as appropriate), essentially limiting the average cost of rares in the deck to 50 cents or less.
RE: introduction card slides. You need to use "easing" to make the cards sliding on screen appear less artificial. :) I am of course assuming you are using editing software that can utilize easing, like After Effects.
Sadly part of this video in retrospect seems like its making fun of Canlander (points system based card availability), and Kathleen wondering how you keep something like that updated.
