Lovely Melania Trump has become a real disappointment 😢. I never thought Trump is a Christian, but he was fighting for the unborn, how will her stance effect his actions? Many people seem to think you can be pro abortion and call yourself Christian, I don’t understand that thinking. Not in my Bible!
Is it? DT is the first Republican candidate in a while to disown the clear pro-life position of traditional conservatives. If we keep compromising by voting for a lesser evil, we will keep getting candidates like DT who have no moral convictions and flip flop with the political winds.
Yet, even after Melania's expressed passion for baby killing, Trump is still the better candidate on this issue, by far. Harris/Walz have explicitly and repeatedly said that they do not want any restrictions and guaranteed at the federal level, thus taking away state rights to legislate restrictions on abortion. By contrast, Trump has repeatedly said that he does not want anything at the federal level, so that states may decide. Even though Trump supports the abortion pill and criticized some states for being too strict, his policy position is vastly preferable since he does not believe the federal government should be involved. Under Harris/Walz, the agenda will be to take away the restrictions we have in conservative states, whereas Trump will protect those restrictions. If right to life is your biggest moral issue (and it should be), you have to be practical in your choice. Sure, you can pick a more consistently pro-life candidate, but that only helps those (the Democrats) who aggressively want to remove all rights for the unborn. Like it or not, Trump is the only way to preserve what we gained with the removal of Roe.

Regarding sinning while driving - Ironically, it's a good metaphor for life. We think we are getting through life without sinning, but all the time, we're ALWAYS inadvertently or negligently trampling on God's law and our neighbors. It mirrors the way that we inadvertently or neglegently violate traffic laws. However - in terms of moral issues the math seems to work out this way- "You Must Not Murder" and "Love Your Neighbor" applies as you must do all you can to avoid damaging another's life or limb, and Romans 13 stipulations mean you must do all you can to avoid traffic violations, and should pay any legitimate fines imposed in the same way that you must pay taxes. And, when you catch yourself occasionally speeding or violating a traffic law, (or accidentally/negligently violating God's law), quietly repent and change your behavior. And be willing to pay any restitution that is owed.
Regarding sinning while driving - yup I get guilty feelings when I set my cruise control 5-10 miles over the posted speed limits. And it occurs every time I do it. oh my.
Regarding sin. It’s very easy to over-intellectualize these types of questions. Personally, I think it boils down to the intent of the heart. If a Christian willfully breaks a secular law then that constitutes a sin.

This is what happens when people are led by their feelings and cease to obey their consciences and stand for what is right no matter the cost. I read her statement and was disgusted by it. With that statement, in my eyes she went from someone I thought was a beautiful woman inside and out to one of the most wicked and disgusting women I have ever known.
killing babies is not a woman's right. It is beyond me why we still think this way. The same people do not believe in the death penalty, they believe in no kill animal shelters, however they feel that terminating Gods creation as a woman's right. Babies are a gift from God. The bible is very clear Jesus wants us to look out for the least of us, the babies. I have one son who has Down syndrome, 95% of woman abort these babies. My son has more heart, more kindness that anyone I have ever met. He was never a choice. He has always been a blessing.

It is the job of evangelists to preach the gospel. It is the job of preachers to shepherd the flock (ie those already believing). God tells us that abortion is a sin, it is the job of preachers to teach their congregations that God says abortion is a sin. Dr Mohler is a preacher of national importance to the SBC, so his “flock” is national, not just local. On top of that abortion is the most deadly sin in America, killing one million babies a year. Back in 1860 would you have told preachers that they shouldn’t speak against slavery and that they should “stay in their lane”? Sin is the lane of preachers, abortion is an abhorrent sin, so abortion is absolutely in the lane of preachers. Now preachers are also called to evangelize but their primary duty is to disciple the people in their church.
Perhaps the most important singular issue for us should be the honor of God’s name. What I am witnessing is egregious misuse of God’s name for political purposes. We have a candidate who has no qualms claiming that he represents Christians and yet, with words and actions, contradicts every clear moral teaching of the Bible. We have Christian leaders saying that we need to be pragmatic and ignore character issues for the sake of picking “lesser” evil. They compromise their integrity and witness by supporting an immoral politician running to be the leader of our nation, while decrying the moral decline of the nation. Secondly, Mr. Mohler, do you not see how by compromising on serious character issues, you are functionally denying your belief in the doctrines of God’s sovereignty and holiness?
Where does God tells us that we can only support moral and godly politicians? King David killed a man to cover his affair, yet God still let him continue in a place of political power. If there is a choice between a Christian candidate (someone who actually acts like they believe the word) and a non-Christian candidate then yes a Christian has an obligation to vote for the Christian. I do not think there is a moral obligation not to vote for false Christians. I think Christians should pressure politicians to drop the label if they aren’t going to live up to it, but I don’t see how there is any moral commandment not to vote for them.

Why won't you talk about the elephant in the room? 10 states have abortion on the ballot, abortion could easily pass in all 10, even in states that Trump will carry by double digits. What would be the point of any future GOP politician carrying the pro-life mantel if republican voters refuse to vote pro-life?
We are being played, however Trump is a populist, he likes to be liked, he actually cares what the populace thinks of him. If Christians actually stood up in solidarity and put pressure on him, he would cave to the pressure. Harris on the other hand is owned by party bosses, there’s no way for Christian solidarity to impact her policies. That said we have the electoral college, nobody’s presidential vote actually matters anyway.
