It's hard for me to imagine a book better than Collected Stories, but I will try. I am forever grateful to you for putting me on to this Swedish masterpiece.
Just talked to him today; in the past ten days he's come down with heatstroke and then Covid! The universe is out to get him, I tell ya! He's on the mend, tho
I'm so happy to hear about Kenji's residency application - congrats!!! Vincent's short story collection sounds AMAZING, and you KNOW how I love short story collections :D Hope you enjoy both buddy reads and can't wait to hear more about them!
Great news about Kenji’s application! Loved your chat with Vincent and his collection has been swiftly added to my want to read. Still skeptical about The Deluge with the whole cli-fi angle so am keen to hear what you and Heidi make of it and very excited about Khwabnama!
Well we could always consider buddy reading Vincent's collection, although I don't want you to express enthusiasm about a book I mention on my channel for fear that it obligates you to buddy read it with me. lol Oh and I have to say The Deluge is reminding me more and more of Collected Works! :)
The audio of Deluge has a multi voice cast. Brilliant news about Kenji’s documents. I have a vision of you at Vancouver airport with a banner welcoming Kenji to Canada. Can I recommend The In Between by Christos Tsiolkas
I didn't get along with the first audio narrator on Deluge so abandoned it. Really sinking deep into the text, so it's no problem but I paid too much money for that audiobook lol Oh and I have been meaning to read another Tsiolkas since loving his The Slap a few years back!
I can't get hold of The Deluge here, unless I want to pay extra for ordering from overseas. One of our major online book sellers has just closed down and postage to Australia is insane. I found Ohio a difficult read content wise.
